Welcome to Frankfort

The small town of Frankfort is a Michigan tourism and recreation hotspot on Lake Michigan’s northeastern shoreline. The town developed in the mid-19th century along the north shore of Betsie Lake, a natural harbor created where the Betsie River flows into Lake Michigan. Antique shopping and art gallery walks through Frankfort’s historic downtown are popular, there is a large public beach at the west end of Main Street, and boating, kayaking, and fishing are all great. Clear, clean Crystal Lake 2 miles northeast of Frankfort also has a sandy beach. Just to the north, the 1859 Point Betsie Lighthouse, the Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore and Dunes, and North Manitou Island await exploration.
