Our guide Frank and...
Our guide Frank and driver Hose were really nice and the tour was really organized. Best tour we had. Historic places may not sound like the best place for kids but they made it so entertaining for the kids and our 7 and 9 year olds LOVED it. We cannot thank Frank and Hose enough. Thank you Amigo tours for having a great team!!

Loved it!!
Kevin was the best!! Him, Victor, and Francisco were awesome on the tour. Everything went very smoothly and Kevin was a funny and great tour guide who kept things very light. My family and I learned so much from him. 100% would recommend but note that the lunch is served around 4-5pm and pick up is at 8am so make sure to eat a lot before/bring snacks on the road.

Best volcano tour!!
Our guide Jupiter was very knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to. It was a full day with a good variety of activities - kayaking in the crater lake was so beautiful. We went on a Monday so there was nobody around and we had the whole place to ourselves, which definitely added to it for us. The hike itself was difficult but the plantation at the top was worth it, and seeing the abandoned & relocated town was so cool! The only thing I would say is that a portion of the trip is on cobblestone roads - so if you are someone who suffers from motion sickness keep that in mind.

Much more than "for the birds"!
Jupiter gave us the best tour of our 10 day trip in the region. Even though it was a birding trip, we learned a lot about the geology, history, and culture of the area. Jupiter starts out rather serious but we were all talking a lot by the end of the day. He's the consummate professional, with decades of experience as a guide. He went over and above our expectations at every turn. The places he chose to take us birding were beautiful so that even those in our group who weren't avid birders enjoyed simply being in nature. He also chose excellent places to have breakfast and a coffee later in the day and even knew the perfect place to get a group photo with the beautiful Volcan de Colima in the background. My vision for birding is more of a "slow birding" philosophy and I wanted to see birds "up close" (in my binoculars) for more than a fleeting instant and I got my wish. I was able to observe many birds doing their morning ablutions, feeding, swimming, and meditating. It was amazing. Extra bonus: Jupiter took and shared many great photos with us as a keepsake.Pro Tip: bring your hiking poles for the first "outing" of the morning as there's a lot of hills and uneven terrain if you're suffering from the elevation or simply unsteady on your feet.

Great kayaking and hiking on the volcano!
My husband and I (he's 71, I'm 65, in reasonable shape) joined Jupiter and another adventurer on a fantastic trip up Colima's volcano. Jupiter picked us up punctually in his air-conditioned van at 8am, and we set off for breakfast. The restaurant he'd intended to take us to in Cofradia de Suchitlan was closed unexpectedly, so we went to another one nearby. Once we were tanked up on sopes (small thick tortilla-like things) and coffee and local blackberry juice water, we continued up the slope of the volcano to La Becerrera, a small town purportedly filled with witches. From there it was a short drive on cobblestones toward La Hierbabuena (a tiny indigenous town often evacuated when the volcano erupts) to the entrance to La Maria, a nice-size volcanic crater lake surrounded on three sides by mountains and on the fourth by cattail swamp. Jupiter got going inflating our two kayaks while we assembled oars and donned life jackets, then off we went. It's a beautiful lake, with lots of interesting birds and bugs and flora. The kayaking was very easy and peaceful, with the crown of the volcano in the distance, the bird calls, the chirping bugs and the gentle splash of our oars.We paddled for about an hour in a very leisurely fashion, admiring the hanging roots and bamboos and fish basking in pools of dappled sunlight with their mouths open, hoping for tasty snacks. Then we docked and stepped out of our kayak, lifting it up easily so Jupiter could deflate, fold and tuck it in a plastic bin then stow it in the van.Our next stop was a little cafe further up the slope towards La Hierbabuena, with delicious local coffee, from where we set off on our hike. Again, this was a leisurely slight-incline walk, not really a hike, but the scenery was breathtaking - the valley of Colima on one side, the peak of the volcano looming majestically on the other. After about 45 minutes, we were back at the van and headed home, on schedule, pleasantly tired but awake enough to enjoy great conversation with Jupiter on the lovely 45-minute drive back.It was a wonderful experience. We have lived here for 20 years, and this was our first time kayaking at La Maria - which we loved and have just bought our own inflatable kayak as a result. And Jupiter was a great and very knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend this adventure!

Amazing
Oscar was fantastic! He picked us up from our Airbnb and we requested that he made a few stops before and after the tour, which he was happy to do. There were 3 of us on the tour, so it was a personal tour for us. We asked about the coffee plantations in Manzanillo and he showed us a coffee plant nearby. He also stopped at a beautiful church in town that was decorated from the local celebration that just happened. He was our personal photographer and took great pictures. He gave us tips on local restaurants and the history of the towns we visited. I would highly recommend this tour. The waterfall was amazing and refreshing.
