Hafiz is very passionate about fireflies and it shows in the pre-boat talk he gave. The talk was short, entertaining and informative. We didn’t really know what to expect on the boat ride, but when we saw the fireflies in the trees like Christmas lights, we were excited. Then Hafiz did his magic and they flew towards the boat like embers in the night. It was magical! We even manage to have a few land on our hands, clothing and faces. So surreal.I highly recommend this experience when in the area. You shouldn’t miss it! Also don’t put on any insect repellent before the trip, as surprise, surprise, fireflies are insects and you definitely wouldn’t want to repel these fantastic creatures.Note: don’t take any pictures using your phone as it will distract the fireflies and give you or the other passengers temporary night blindness as the surroundings are so dark. Just enjoy the experience.

We did the first tour with Hafiz in 2012, and we found it a fantastic experience for everyone visiting Cherating. Watching the behavior of the fireflies and learning about their uniqueness in the hundreds / thousands of species is really great.Hafiz has come a very long way but his passion and involvement continues to be the same. Really committed to preserve the environment and ecology of the mangrove while providing an educational point to the visitors.Don’t miss it!

An amazing and magical experience! Hafiz really knows his stuff when it comes to fireflies, and somehow manages to lure the fireflies from their trees towards you with a flashlight. They will land on your hand or perhaps on your head sometimes, it truly is a fantastic experience and there's nothing quite like it! Though if you bring kids, be sure to tell them to be nice to the fireflies. Was on a boat with children and they kept trying to roughly catch the fireflies, which is rather cruel! Otherwise a beautiful experience and absolutely magical.

We booked through whatsapp via their number in Facebook. It was RM45 per personThe waiting area was well lit up, air conditioned, alot of parking available and toilets.Hafiz gave us a 20 minute intro to fireflies, how the male and females light up differently. He is a very charismatic person!Then we got into the boats, very well maintained boats, life jackets and boarding platform.Don't worry if you arent in the same boat as Hafiz, as he will call the fireflies to every boat! We managed to get a few fireflies to land on our fingers and it was truly a magical feeling when he calls them towards the boat.Even though it was dark, we felt very safe during the entire tour, so do book it without hesitation!

We did the tour with our 4 year old daughter. We all had an amazing time. Hafiz was a fantastic guide. He was able to call the fireflies over to the boat using his specially designed torch and by calling to them. It was amazing. We have seen the fireflies in Kuala Selangor and, although there were more to be seen in the trees there, they didn’t fly around the boats like Hafiz made these ones do. It was amazing seeing them suddenly all fly out of the trees towards our boat. Hafiz was so good with our daughter too and allowed her to see the fireflies closeup. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Cherating. We are doing 2 other tours now with Hafiz.

A cool way to spend an evening
It was fantastic out on the boats to see the fireflies. Mr. Hafiz is very knowledgeable and provides a lot of information about the fireflies themselves, including the chemical that causes them to light up! You will get up close and personal to the fireflies and it is very tranquil out on the river at night seeing the stars as well. I would highly recommend doing this tour while you are in Cherating.

Cool Rewards

  • Cool Rewards is a loyalty program operated by Cool Destinations. Rewards may be earned by any eligible person holding a Cool Destinations account, subject to the Cool Destinations customer Terms of Use.

Earning rewards

  • Rewards can be earned by making bookings on the Cool Destinations website. You will be able to see the value of the rewards you can earn during the booking process.
  • Earned rewards will be issued in a pending state and will move to a confirmed state 24 hours after the start time of the experience.
  • Earned rewards will be available to redeem once they are no longer in a pending state.
  • For bookings that are moved to a different travel date, the rewards will be redeemable after the amended travel date.
  • If a booking where rewards were issued is canceled, the earned rewards will not be redeemable and will be moved to a canceled state.

Redeeming rewards

  • To redeem rewards, you must be logged into your Cool Destinations account.
  • Any available rewards will be automatically applied the next time you make a booking, and their value will be deducted from your order at checkout, unless you choose not to apply them, which requires you to indicate this via the toggle switch. Bookings made using rewards are subject to the standard Cool Destinations Customer Terms of Use.
  • You will not be able to redeem only a portion of your available rewards at checkout. It is only possible to redeem all or none of your available rewards.
  • There is no minimum order value required to redeem your rewards. This means that you can pay for 100% of your order with rewards.
  • Rewards are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
  • If rewards are redeemed against a booking that is canceled or refunded, the rewards will be reissued to your account.

Miscellaneous

  • You can check your Cool Destinations account to see the rewards you have collected at any time. You are responsible for ensuring that your rewards balance is correct.
  • We reserve the right to modify these Cool Rewards Terms and Conditions at any time, with or without notice, including the rules for earning and redeeming rewards. Any changes will be reflected in the updated Terms and Conditions.
  • We reserve the right to terminate the Cool Rewards program and cease issuing any further rewards on future bookings. All pending and available rewards balances will be honored.
  • By earning and redeeming rewards, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, as well as any subsequent changes made to them.
