Charlottesville is a small Central Virginia city set in the eastern foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city is known for its scenic settings, vibrant downtown, and important historical sites going back to the Colonial and Revolutionary War periods. Founding Father and third president of the United States Thomas Jefferson made his home at Monticello, a grand house and plantation 3 miles southeast of present-day Charlotte. Jefferson also established a tradition of viniculture and winemaking that has grown to one of the area’s top attractions. The Monticello Wine Trail features 30 wineries, including one of Thomas Jefferson’s original 1774 vineyard sites, all within an easy drive from Charlottesville.

Hannah - our tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. She made the tour interesting covering the standard information as well as sharing some of her personal experiences. One item that was surprising was that the regular tour ended several blocks away from the starting point, however for a few dollars per person you could continue on the extended tour. For several reasons we chose not to continue on the extended tour, so we were left to find our own way back.

Our trip was awesome! This was a great way to be able to enjoy the wineries and not to worry about driving ourselves. Just relax and taste! Our guide Gillie was so nice and you could tell the employees at the wineries all loved him!

We booked this after another tour cancelled. It ended up being a last minute alternative and it worked out well. The option of experiencing these beautiful wineries without having to drive is priceless and we appreciated William, our driver, taking over this responsibility. William was great. He got us to and from our hotel safely and was flexible with pick up and the locations we wanted to visit. He even sprinted across a busy road to get my friend's hat after it blew out the window. Thank you, William!

Our experience was seamless and our driver very kind, on time, and very flexible when we adjusted our last tour stop. He also ensured at each stop that we were taken care of and that we knew right where to go to start our tour of each vineyard. A fabulous way to experience a wine tour!

Our favorite part of the Charlottesville Challenge Scavenger Hunt was meeting and interviewing people who live and work there. The entire adventure was fun, and an amazing way to explore and get to know the city. This gave us the opportunity, though, to step outside of our comfort zones and approach strangers with questions. It was awesome how willing to help they were when we told them we were on a scavenger hunt.

Absolutely perfect. Who wouldn't want to drive in a 1972 renovated teal Volkswagen bus around wine country in Charlottesville? Katie was a wonderful hostess and the tour went to three wineries with the flights included at each location. Such a unique, non generic way to experience the area. HIGHLY Recommended. Everywhere went, Mabel (the VWs name) turned heads and received instant smiles! I plan on going again for my big 50! Thank you for making our 20th anniversary so special. Tours actually start around $140 (used a Groupon) but that includes the flights. Totally worth it.

I was visiting UVa with my teenage daughter and thought to round out the academic with this food tour. Our tour guide was Susan Jones. She was outgoing with a friendly smile that made both of us feel right at home. She regaled us with bits of local history, info about the establishment whose specialties we were sampling, and observations about the foods that enhanced our enjoyment of them. So relaxing and pleasurable! I think my daughter and I will remember this culinary excursion as the favorite part of our trip.
