Cape Town Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

We had a great experience with Beyond Africa Safaris. We booked this experience the night before our excursion and did the VIP package to reduce any hassle with admissions fees and such, we did however pay for the Seal Island tour which was well worth it. We spent a good amount of time at each of the stops and appreciated that our guide, Nathan went above and beyond to tailor our timing to the group’s desires. His expert timing allowed us to arrive to many of the tourist attractions before the larger buses unloaded meaning we maximized our time and minimized the time spent in crowds. We had a total of five people in our tour and it was an amazing day overall. This was such a meaningful experience for my daughter (22) and I, which allowed us to truly connect with Cape Town and our guide.For lunch we had the option to eat at the Lighthouse Rest Stop or continue onto Simon Town and eat lunch there which was the much better choice for our group. We ended up at Bertha’s where we had some delicious fish and chips and salad. Overall a 10/10 day thanks to Nathan and the rest of the BAS team.

Spectacular experience- wine and otherwise! Our crazy-knowledgeable guide Angelo knitted a bunch of strangers together and imparted tons of oenological knowledge at a breakneck pace. The wines were diverse and spectacular, as were the people in the van, some of whom I intend to see again. Huge credit to Angelo, his encyclopedic knowledge of wine and his spectacular attitude. Do this tour.

Exploring the wine region was such a beautiful experience. In the end the 3 tastings plus lunch was too much alcohol for us and not enough walking time in Franschoek and Stellenbosch. But we did sign up for wine tastings, so that was personal preference not the tour’s fault. Tour operator did a fine job.

We had a great day trip around the cape, loved the national park and the penguins and the views were amazing. Ray was a fabulous guide and gave us lots of really interesting information.

Jasper and his team made sure we had a really nice time! The landscapes are gorgeous (especially when hiking towards the Cape of Good Hope) and the explanations along the way suite interesting. Would absolutely recommend!

A definite must-do when you’re in Cape Town!I truly believe that one of the best ways to get to know a country is through its food — and this experience was such a wonderful way to discover more of South Africa.The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, but what I loved most was the whole experience: spending time with a wonderful guide, hearing the stories behind the food, and meeting fellow travellers from different parts of the world who were just as curious to learn more about South Africa.There’s something so special about sharing food around a table and discovering how food, history and culture are all connected.I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and came away with an even greater appreciation for the incredible diversity and richness of South African food and history.Definitely add this to your Cape Town must-do list!

Paul was a fantastic guide! He took note of our interests, answered our many questions, and gave us a beautiful and fun boat tour of Cape Town. We saw a ton of dolphins, seals, and penguins! Paul was also extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot from him about animals and about Cape Town in general. As a bonus, he gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do while we are here.

The experience was amazing and we had fun. My only concern was the time management wasn’t so good as we wanted to atleast visit 4 wine estates we end up with 3 because the time wasn’t enough for an entire day

Sebastian is an extremely knowledgeable guide and has many different aspects to add to the walking tour that are invaluable if you really want to learn about South African history. A real pleasure, even in the rain!

Fantastic experience with very knowledgeable guide/captain. Learned a lot and saw humpback whales, penguins, jellyfish and a seal catching an octopus ,amongst other great sightings. Highly recommended

Jaffred (hope I’m spelling his name correctly) was fantastic. So kind, knowledgeable and allowed us to have the best day possible in the western cape. You will learn so much and see all of the “must-dos”
