Billings, in the south-central part of Montana, is the state’s largest city. Downtown Billings sits in the Yellowstone River Valley with its towering sandstone Rimrocks, and the area is surrounded by scenic mountain ranges. Founded as a railroad town in 1882, Billings is called the trailhead to Montana, and many historical sites and natural attractions are nearby. The Rimrock Trail north of town gives views of the valley, and the homes of prehistoric hunters at Pictograph Cave State Park are just 5 miles to the south. An hour away, the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument marks the site where lieutenant colonel George Custer’s 7th Calvary was wiped out by Lakota and Cheyenne warriors.

I did this with a group of friends/colleagues. We had a lot of fun competing and seeing the different locations in the downtown area. Be prepared to walk a lot and it will take 2 hours.

Love the small airport and easy access. Car rental is right there. Check in and security is friendly, professional and easy. I left my laptop bag on a seat at gate (helping autistic grandson) at 11:30pm. We got to hotel and realized it was gone. Drove back to airport a solo counter person had it.
