Asturias 2026 Calendar of Events

We had a wonderful day trip to the Covadonga Lakes and Cangas de Onís. Lorena is delightful and knowledgeable, and we feel truly grateful to have had her as our guide. Her passion shines through in everything she shares.

Debra was an excellent guide and we enjoyed the hike.

Beautiful itinerario except for the long walk in the hot sun from the parking lot to Cudillero.Visit to Avilés was somewhat haphazard.

I can’t say I’m fond of Cool Destinations. They seem to provide companies the ability to post their own tours, which may or may not have enough information, and if you have questions, there’s no way to ask them. I did not get my ticket until 24 hours prior to the start of the tour (which would have given me no option to cancel 24 hours prior, if I had wanted to do so). I was also left wondering if there was even room for me on the tour, and so was unable to make alternate plans if needed. Having never been to these areas, I was dressed inappropriately in a sundress and strappy sandals, which made it difficult to climb up steeply sloped hills in Bulnes (not Bunnes, as the tour listed).Beyond that, the tour was excellent. We stopped to take photos of the Picos de Europa at a photo stop, then arrived in Bulnes, where we took a modern Funicular ride 2.2 miles into the mountain. On the other side, you can hike further up the mountain, and/or stop for lunch (my choice). I had the “abuela” (grandmother’s) plate, which included scrambled eggs, Spanish bacon, a fried corn cake and fries. Yum! Also went with dessert, which was like a creamy caramel martini topped with whipped cream and caramel, and a cordito. Last stop was the Cabrales Cheese Cave, which, although you are in a cave, it is not a cave where cheese is actually stored, and you do not see the cheese being made, tested for ripeness of turned. That’s OK, we were all running out of steam anyway. The tour ended with a tasting of two types of Cabrales cheese on toasts and small shot of sidra, and back to Oviedo we went.Again, a note to the ladies - bathroom stops may be at bus stations, which have no toilet seats, and may or may not have toilet paper. Bring your own!

The places we visited are spectacular and Pelayo is a wonderful guide. Even though the group was large, he explained everything well. With free time to rest and take photos.

Great comfortable tour with a very knowledgeable host Eva and driver Jose. Balnes is a great little town and the cabrales tour well coordinated.

Recommended. Thank you, Laura

The experience starts at the cathedral and ends right behind it, we were there for about 1 hour and 40 minutes and honestly Lucía was incredible!! She made the visit super enjoyable and told super interesting stories and anecdotes about the city, and we also discovered other corners that we hadn't discovered, even though we had been to the city several times. Just want to tell her thank you and that we will recommend it to family and friends.

It's the ideal way to get to the lakes because in summer the road is closed to personal vehicles. Upon arrival, don't expect to be alone in nature, hordes of tourists are there, but the scenery is worth it! Great day, let yourself be transported...

I really enjoyed this tour. It was both fun and educational. I laughed at myself for really being on a mission to seek out the items before moving on. There are photos to help guide you along and the map was active in real time to get you on the right path. Loved it.

The trip was well organized. David was an excellent guide. Thank you.

Great trip to Cathedral beach and Ribadeo, some great views on the lighthouse stops, lunch stop was also well chosen as lots of places to eat. Would have preferred longer on the beach though

Very nice, the guide was splendid, with extensive knowledge of the principality. We will repeat. It should be indicated that there are places to eat during the tour.

Great experience, very well organised in less touristic but beautiful area and nature with a lovely guide, speaking both Spanish and English. Perfect for a halfday family getaway and activity near Oviedo.

Had a booked pickup at Bilbao Airport. Was contacted even before I got on the plane with detailed instructions on pickup. Everything worked as described.

Fantastic guide! He was so knowledgeable, professional and enthusiastic! We learned the incredible history and all about the beauty of this lovely place. We could not have asked for a better(or more helpful) guide.
