Alexandria Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Karim took me on a tour through Downtown on a Friday evening. We tasted lovely food at different local favourite restaurants. We looked at the sights on the way. Ice cream and lovely warm desserts followed, inbetween we walked the buzzling souq markets, looked at people shopping for clothes and toys and jewellery and veggies and fish. A real Alexandrian immersion! Karim has a lovely sense of humour and explains the local ways very nicely. I had a great time snd am looking forward to doing other tours with him when visiting Alexandria next time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for sure!

We booked directly with Ramasside tours. Pick up at our hotel. Mahmoud was our guide for the day. We visited all the wonderful sights of Alexandria. Mahmoud's knowledge on the history of Egypt is exceptional. He is also an archaeologist and having his explanation to the diggings of the sites is wonderful. Thanks so much for an interesting day in Alexandria. Highly rate Mahmoud as an expert guide.

It was the most incredible experience my husband and I have ever had. Primarily because of the heart and soul that our tour guide Amira and Abdulrahman placed into making our 12 hour experience magical. Amirah, who is a Montessori certified tour guide provided historical accounts of the pyramids and the museum. We ended our tour with a boat ride through the Nile river. It was truly an off the charts experience. I highly recommend this tour. Specially with Amirah and Abdulrahman as they are fantastic. They moved us quickly through crowds at the pyramids and museum. They translated any question we had for the camel ride and for the guided tour in general. BEST Tour Ever! 5 Star Review.

Tour of Giza pyramids and Saqqara complex. Amr was an incredible guide and storyteller. We spent the day touring with him, both learning and laughing with him and enjoying these beautiful sites. Having just finished the tour with him we feel we have gained a new friend and hope to see him on another tour of beautiful Egypt.

Amazing visit to smaller welcoming town an hour's journey from Alexandria. Guide and driver were friendly and informative. Highlights included welcoming visit to small local Mosque - very different from usual experiences- followed by a private viewing of fantasticlly restored houses with the Director of Local Antiquities as guide. To finish we were taken on a private relaxing cruise on the Nile.

From above you have beautiful views of the city of Alexandria. It is well preserved although there is not much information on site about it unless you go with a guide. It looks fast and is not difficult even though inside there are a few steps to climb.

Today we drove from Cairo to Alexandria with Hassan Sadaqa. We were on the road for about 2 hours. Traveling with Hassan was fun as always. He is a good driver and a great tour guide. Thank you very much Hassan and stay the way you areBest regards

This library is simply incredible! Definitely take the free one hour tour which will give you an excellent overview. We have never been so impressed by a library. Although the ancient library is no longer this one should be up there as a wonder. Wished we had more time to just browse around. You can easily spend a day here and they have several collections for an additional fee.

This is a beautiful modern Library / Museum / is one of the largest libraries of the ancient world . This Library is a classroom and a wealth of ancient knowledge. It is adjacent to the University of Alexandria so,lots of students have easy access to gather valuable information. . Exhibits include an entire section dedicated president Sadat . I think To Really appreciate its vast space you need at least two days or minimum ones day with guide.

I really liked to see the rural and town life in Rosetta. The Osman house was very interesting. Marwa also drove us to the point where the Nile meets the Mediterranean. The boat ride on the Nile was really cool. Marwa was very kind and knowledgeable.

A really great experience with Heba - I described in advance what I was looking for and I got that and more. You meet a guide at the beginning and you leave having developed a friendship. I’m a photographer so I was looking for angles and views and different things happening. Highly recommend this. You’ll know Alexandria so well ::)

Our driver was punctual and friendly. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our day very very much.

This tour was a once in a life time great experience. Our driver, Heba Soudy was fantastic maneuvering around and getting us to and from Giza safely. Our Tour guide, George was the best he was so knowledgeable about the history of Egypt. I learned so much. He got us a camel ride which I will never forget. Later on we asked him to find us a good Egyptian restaurant where we could share lunch. George called ahead and placed an order for such a delicious variety of foods for us to savor. My Sister and I Thank you for such a memorable experience in Egypt.

The Qaitbay Citadel was built by Sultan Qaitbay around 1477 AD on the Mediterranean Sea Coast . It protected Alexandria from marauders attempting to gain access to the city by sea to the Eastern Harbor area.
