Top Tropea Dining Experiences

Thank you Enzo for a wonderful experience and one of the many highlights of our trip to Calabria 💞 The farm/restaurant/shop that hosted this experience was a wonderful family run organic masseria in the Calabrian hills.. We learnt how to make traditional Fileja pasta and filled Cannolis before eating the most wonderful antipasti .. Enzo was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Calabrian’s organic farm to table produce and the staff at the masseria were so welcoming. A must do for food lovers whilst staying in the Tropea area.

My girlfriend and I were looking for an exciting and authentic activity near Tropea. We stumbled upon this webshop where you could learn to make Italian pasta from scratch, and thought it sounded exciting, but we weren't entirely sure what we were getting into. We were picked up by a shuttle bus near our hotel and driven to a beautiful place with a fantastic view. This stop lasted about 15 minutes, after which we drove on to the farm where we were going to make the pasta. There were 16 people who signed up (full team), and we were all different nationalities, which was super cool! We spoke with a couple from Canada, some friends from the UK, and a Danish family. The guide was an Italian man who was good at English and explained a lot about the farm and the different raw materials grown on the site. He had good energy and was good at creating conversation. When we were finished with the pasta, we sat down and had an appetizer while the pasta was being cooked by their kitchen. The appetizer was a mass of various delicious Italian tapas. The pasta was served with tomatoes and olives and it tasted mega good. Throughout the event, both red and white wine were also served. The service was so good, and everyone who worked there was so friendly. We also got a small dessert which was cannoli made with their own homemade ricotta cream. At 10 PM we finished eating and were driven back to where we were picked up. It was a fantastic evening with fun, coziness, and educational experiences. Can be 100% recommended. Enzo was the perfect host. Knowledgeable and kind. The experience itself was awesome. Great wine estate and the wines we tried one better the other. And very tasty appetizers reflecting the terroir of Calabria. And the highlight—without a doubt the best tartufo gelato I have ever had. No reservations in recommending this experience. Well done and thanks Enzo for a perfect end to our week in Tropea.

A really lovely evening! We were picked up from the hotel and then met our fellow cooks for the evening on-site. But before cooking, Alberto led us around the farm and, together with Enzo, told us interesting things about almost every plant and fruit. Then it was time to harvest and finally to prepare dinner. The international group was a great fit and it was very entertaining! Enzo and Alberto really catered to us, and we felt very comfortable.

Highly recommend. The place has a nice rural ambience, the owner is very welcoming as well as the staff. You will have opportunity to prepare fresh pasta, gnocchi, cantuccini and more and then taste it in a very nice surrounding, drinking a good local wine. This is an experience for a real Italian cuisine lovers. I would definitely take part in this cooking experience again. Grazie mille Luana :)

Our tour guide Enzo was absolutely the best ,Took us on a wine tour that was the most incredible wine tour I’ve ever been on . After we went to the winery he took us to an amazing little church then for some gelato We also stopped for a beautiful view of the sunset . thank you so much for the great experience.

Enzo and Nonna provided a fantastic cooking experience with locally sourced organic ingredients and wine. Enzo was extremely personable and knowledgeable of Calabria, being from the area originally. His English was excellent having lived in Australia for a period of time. We were taught how to prepare a simple but extremely tasty Italian meal starting with zucchini flower zeppole. We then made two kinds of pasta, cavatelli and fileja, by hand by mixing flour (00 and semolina) with only water. The cavatelli was served with an onion sauce made from Tropea onions, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. The fileja was served with a sauce of Tropea onions, tomatoes, olive oil, salt, and zucchini. Dessert was a homemade tiramisu made from espresso, cookies, and a fresh whipped cream with marscapone. The food was delicious and the company delightful. My wife and I highly recommend this cooking class if you are visiting Tropea!

Thank you for this lovely evening, the host Enzo and Nonna were great, We made to kinds of fresh pasta by ourself and Nonna showed us how to do. We’ve learned a lot new things.

What a wonderful truly Calabrese experience! From meeting Francesca and learning about her history to walking the vineyards with Antonio and learning the history of the land and beautiful building to working beside Luana as she taught us how to make pasta, Fileja, Tropea style potatoes cooked in a “testu”, and delicious cantuccini that we used in a dessert with sweet ricotta! Loved that we got to bring the recipes home so we can try these recipes again! It was a perfect sized class of three of us! I would highly recommend this class!!

I totally recommend this tour! The winery is perched high up in the hills which have incredible views and sunset!. The owners explain their winery operation and each of the tasting wines we sampled (2 whites, 1 rose, 3 reds). There was plentiful appetizers to sample and eat, olives, assorted cold cuts, cheeses, local omelettes, and pasta. You can also purchase the wine if you wanted, but no pressure(we did as it was very good) It was a beautiful evening, and I would definitely 100% do this again!

It was a great experience. Enzo told us about Calabria, its geography and food , and really got us interested in the region. The tour around the farm was beautiful and the family that owns it was really welcoming. We made fileja pasta by hand, filled cannolis with ricotta and concluded with an absolutely delicious dinner with local products and produce. Highly recommended for people that want to learn more about the region or just like to make and eat good food!

One of the best experiences I've had in Tropea! We cooked 2 beautiful pastas with some very lovely other guests. All food was local and absolutely delicious.Totally recommend!!!

A lovely experience with an even better host, we visited the farm picked the ingredients, drank wine and cooked along with the chef even making some friends along the way.Made me want to try all the other experiences Enzo at visit Mediterraneo has to offer.10/10 don’t miss it.
