A DAY IN DOURO

A DAY IN DOURO
We had a great day in the Douro with Nuno who was an excellent guide. He picked us up at the hotel and we first of all had a one hour cruise on the river. Then we drove up to the Douro bend for some great photo opportunities, before going to Sao Martinho de Anta for an alfresco lunch. We then visited the miscatel winery at Favairos before a scenic and spectacular drive through the remotest vineyards above Pinhao. Nuno was excellent company and we learned a lot about the region and its history and about wine prouction in general. Highly recommended.

One of Our Favorite Experiences from All of Portugal!
We spent a full day touring the Douro Valley with Nuno from Grapeland, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire Portugal trip. Nuno was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the Douro and its wines, but what we appreciated most was that the day never felt scripted or like a standard tourist tour. He was personable, easy to spend the day with, and did a great job of adapting the experience to us and our interest in wine. We had already visited several wineries on our own during the trip, so we weren't looking for someone simply to drive us from tasting to tasting. Nuno added context about the region, the vineyards, the producers and life in the Douro that we never would have gotten traveling on our own. By the end of the day, it felt much more like exploring the Douro with a knowledgeable local friend than being on a tour. If we returned to the Douro, we would book with Grapeland and request Nuno again without hesitation.

Great day
This was a great experience. The Douro Valley is spectacular. We visited three very different and interesting wineries. Both the wines/ports and lunch were very nice. Paulo is an excellent guide - very knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. The tour was also very well paced. We highly recommend it.

Absolutely phenomenal tour!!
Such a brilliant experience - Pedro picked us up directly from our Airbnb, took us to a fantatsic wine tasting before taking us for a traditional portuguese lunch, which was really delicious. The afternoon viewing of a cooperative winery was exquisite. We even had time for a quick swimming break, before enjoying an evening river cruise. Such a fantastic day - would recommend so highly!

Fantastic Experience
Our guide was there a few minutes early and met us outside our hotel. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, pointing out different facts and points of interest while we made our way to the Douro Valley. We stopped at a gorgeous overlook, and he explained about the olive trees. We stopped at various points of interest in Pinhão and took our cruise from there. The cruise was very relaxing and there was a pleasant breeze. The two estates that we visited held nice tours. The tastings included a nice variety and lunch was delicious. We booked a wine tour and thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson that came with it.

Great guide on a hot day
This was our second time in 4 years riding with Deltatur on the Duoro. This time we spent 90 min on the river with Telmo. He was very sweet with our 2-year old (who was not being super sweet back). We had lovely white sparking wine and she got a juice box so overall everyone was happy! It was so hot & being on the water was a great way to spend a little time while still being outside. The boat was clean and looks very well maintained.Telmo was super cool. We really enjoyed talking to him about the area, different towns, life in Portugal overall, etc. With a young child having a private tour was 100% worth it for us. It guaranteed us shade on a hot day and allowed us to relax a bit more.

Wonderful hike around the town with Silvia who is an incredibly knowledgeable guide. LOVED this tour. We were so full after a huge homemade lunch with Sivia and Antonio's honey, wine, lemonade, cheeses and olive oil.

What a great day in the Douro Valley!!
We had a fantastic day with Nuno! His English was excellent; his knowledge of the history of Portugal and the Douro Valley was incredible. He was very helpful on some of the more challenging parts of the ride. The vistas and views were incredible - as were the culinary and cultural experiences. Highly recommend without any hesitation!

Excellent Day with Bruno
Our Highlights of the Douro Valley tour exceeded expectations. Bruno was an excellent host and provided fascinating background regarding the areas visited. The wine tastings at a small, family run winery and one larger winery were both educational and fun. Lunch at a local restaurant was a highlight. Bruno went the extra mile helping us plan our next day in Porto, and went out of his way to return an item left behind in his car to our hotel. I highly recommend booking with Bruno and I look forward to working with Bruno again when I return to Portugal.

Private Guided Hiking Tour Through the Vineyards and Lunch
My sister and I had the privilege of taking a private guided tour with Antonio. The beauty of the terrain was enhanced by Antonio's knowledge and passion for the area. It was a moderate hike with incredible views and engaging conversation. The lunch was timed impeccably to align with a break from hiking. If I am ever in the area, I will be sure to book another experience with Antonio as he has such warm energy.
