Top Merida Rail Tours

This trip is a must if it’s your first time visiting Merida! Our guide, Resondo, was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. The way he explained made everything exciting and smooth. We enjoyed the Maya Train, Chichén Itza, X-Cajun cenote where we had a wonderful time swimming and the food was very good. Cochinita tacos were superb! Then we ended in Izamal. We hiked all the way to the top of the pyramid and had a wonderful view of the city. Then we drove back to Merida. Truly amazing!

We had a wonderful time at the Hacienda. It is in an extremely beautiful area with delicious food and comfortable accommodation. We were truly spoilt during our stay. It is a good location for visiting the Uxmal ruins and Merida. The pool was lovely and spacious. We had an interesting tour about the history of the Hacienda ending with a horse drawn carriage ride and lovely dip in a cenote. The staff were extremely helpful, I left my I Pad in my room and they arranged for it to be sent by DHL to our next accommodation, a special shout out to the manager Ivan who sorted out all the logistics.

This was a quaint, fun, informative experience with a cool down at the end. Everyone enjoyed the entire experience!

We had an excellent trip and it was totally worth it, being a solo traveller this was a great way to check out a number of locations. Our host was fantastic and incredibly informative. It was a great day—the train ride itself felt like an experience. Visiting Izamal, climbing the pyramid, and touring the convent were all memorable. A swim in the cenote was the perfect midday break, and lunch was delicious. Exploring Chichén Itzá and learning the history made the long day worthwhile. My travel companions were also very friendly and a pleasure to be around.

Our guide, David, and John, our dirver, provided a fantastic and informative day. One of the best and knowledgable guides in our experience - a very personable individual. Not only visits to the histiorical signts, but our Tren Maya trip was a great addition to our tour. Tom and Lana.

Absolutely mammoth day with so much packed in, more than I expected so was brilliant. Our guide Rosando went above and beyond in explaining the history behind all we saw and patiently answered all questions. Having free time to explore at each stop was an added benefit. Note, I didn’t end up travelling via train for the first part as I was the only one booked so instead joined the rest of the tour via car in Merida.

It exceeded my expectations. In addition to enjoying the cenote, seeing the old machines for henequen production working is amazing. Jass, the guide, is excellent; she has a lot of knowledge on the subject. I recommend it for family outings, couples, or solo. The staff is very friendly and treats everyone equally.

The bus provided for transportation was super clean and comfortable, and the driver was very friendly. The tour guide at the hacienda was very engaging and enthusiastic about the art of henequen. We were fascinated by the technique shown to us step by step by the local workers, and how the original machines from 20th century are still operating. We were also treated to a refreshing glass of tamarind juice along the way.The wonders didn’t end here. We boarded a “truk” - a rail carriage powered by a mule - and had the most mesmerizing ride through agave plantations to the cenote. We were so lucky to be the only ones in the cenote that day, and there was a safe guard on premises to look out for us while we swim. There were also bathrooms and changing rooms, as well as a little makeshift bar where we had a mezcalita.Finally, we had an amazing 4-course meal of fresh mexican food with friendly service.We cannot recommend this experience enough, it’s definitely a must do experience when in Merida!

The ride, Mayan Train Adventure Chichen Itza Cenote and Izamal, we found excellent. From the beginning our trip was smooth and very organized. Rosendo, our guide, is a very enlightened man and knows a lot about Mayan culture. His treatment and friendliness are excellent and made us feel great taking care of every detail and resolving every doubt and question we asked him. Congratulations! In our next visit to Merida we will surely re-contract your services. 🙂

A highly recommended experience on that stage of the history of Yucatan and the process of the enequen or Sisal tanimñonte for the state and the country.

The tour of the whole hacienda is very nice, the guide (I think it is called jazz) I explain everything super well! The demonstration of all the fabric manufacture with the henequen is incredible, how beautiful they still preserve all the machines and planting. All the staff are very friendly. The food is good and the flan is a must!! I had the opportunity for a full body massage with mari and it was perfect I loved the experience of adapting the spa inside the wagon. 10/10 I highly recommend it.

We went with a group of friends and had a great time! The staff is very warm and really sometimes make you feel too at home, the facilities and the place is very nice. We took the guided tour and our guide was spectacular, he showed us and explained everything about the hacienda and its history, then we got on a "truk" (or truck) that took us to a very nice and clean cenote, I liked that there are bathrooms and dressing rooms outside and that the entrance to the cenote is adapted so that almost anyone can enter safely. After leaving the cenote we had some very rich margaritas drinks with henequén distillate. The food is a delight, of the best cochinita and tortillas by hand but the same as the other delicious dishes. We also spent time in one of its pools to finish the day fresh. I highly recommend this place and tour!

The 3-hour tour at Hacienda Sotuta de Peón is amazing. The tour is perfectly explained, you learn a lot about the henequen process and the history of the place, and the treatment of the team is spectacular: warm, attentive and always willing to help.The cenote and truck ride make the experience even more special and connect you deeply to nature.Still, my recommendation is to stay longer if you can. It is very worth living the hacienda calmly and enjoying it for several days.

It was an amazing visit that we made a group of eight friends. From the beginning they were extremely attentive to us and treated us wonderfully.The talk we were given during the tour was very enjoyable and the history of the place is really interesting. I have visited other farms, but none had been explained in such detail or seen the henequen process truly in action.The restaurant food is delicious, and swimming in the cenote is definitely worth it.Massages are very good; however, the space is small and can only serve two people at a time. Too bad there wasn't enough time for us all to enjoy them.
