If you want to feel like you’re with your long lost cousin, taking you back home. He’s your guide. My son’s high school graduation gift was this trip. He related to him as well as me. We did things we wanted to do. No boredom here. THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS.

An excellent experience. As another reviewer has noted, you will be joining different day trips each day with different guides and groups. However, it is run incredibly smoothly. My wife and I were picked up at the airport and there was a representative waiting for us at our hotel to go over the logistics. We stayed at the Hotel Juliani, which I recommend for its location and friendly staff. Each day I received communications from Michael with the company with details for the following day. One day there was a delay with our pickup but it was handled quickly. He also went above and beyond when our return flight changed. If you are torn between this version and the 5-day one, go with this one as the inclusion of Gozo was a highlight among many highlights.

My husband, friends, and I had a fabulous trip to Sicily with Sergio as our private guide? He is the kindest, most polite, and sweetest person, with knowledge of the island that made every moment feel effortless. From the moment he picked us up from the airport in Catania, he drove us through an unforgettable journey through Sicily’s stunning landscapes and hidden gems. We visited Catania, Taormina (a stunning place), and had an exhilarating climb up Mount Etna. I have to go back and do this again. Sergio then drove us to the ancient wonders of Syracuse and the old architect of Ortigia, followed by Noto, a town so captivating we never wanted to leave. He took us to several vineyards throughout Sicily for tastings and wonderful cheeses, and even to a hands-on pasta-making dinner high on the mountaintop of Castelmola, with panoramic views that stole our breath. Sergio then took us to the little town of Cefalu where we continued to shop, eat fabulous foods and drink wine. This trip held deep personal meaning, Sergio patiently guided me to my grandfather’s hometown of Santo Stefano Quisquina, even accompanying me to the municipal office to unearth more stories of my ancestors. We also ventured to my husband’s ancestral village of Castelbuono, a jaw-dropping gem of rugged beauty and timeless charm. We ended our trip exploring Palermo’s bustling streets and beautiful churches. Sicily is an absolute paradise. Sergio is hands down the number one guide—warm, insightful, and he felt like family. If you’re dreaming of Sicily, book him; you won’t regret it!

The tour was with an agent, not the tour company. He deserves 5 stars—the tour companies not so much (next paragraph) The agent met with us the first night and got us hard to get tickets to the hypogeum (not cheap, but a must do) and kept us informed daily on every detail. The airport transfers were seamless. Somehow, we ended up with a different tour guide everyday and that’s not a coincidence. We saw our previous and future guides each day with other groups doing the same things. That was great, because not all guides were good.The tours were very strenuous. If you are not in good shape, Malta is not for you. Some tour guides patiently waited and counted everyone (Valentina in Gozo was amazing—5 stars) , some did not and lost people (Michael at the ruins on Friday—1 star). Some explained every detail, some did not say much. Lunches were tasty but more like comfort food than anything special, usually pasta and chicken. Vegetarians got salad.Every place we visited was a bit rushed. We were glad to have the free last day to fill in the missing places, like the Museum of archeology—the 7000 year old figure of the reclining fat lady is a must see. The 45 minutes to get lunch in Valletta was not enough time to see that museum and eat. We also saw the St Paul’s grotto in Rabat on our own. Some used that day to see the “optional” Blue Lagoon, but read the reviews. It’s a miserable trip that we opted not to do. The ferry to Gozo passes by that island anyway.My biggest disappointment was although we did see the main 6000 year old ruin on Friday, the other one a mile down the path was not included. (Michael was our guide that day, so we wouldn’t have missed much). One could sneak away and run down there (and buy the separate admission first). To miss the guide’s explanation of the main ruin—and the exhibits that were a huge waste of time—would have been better.I’m not sure there are better tour alternatives. All the companies seem to do the same thing The agent made Malta special for us. However, getting around Malta on your own is economical with the Bolt app, but you need to be on a cellphone grid for that. The agent told us about Bolt. They also have Uber. There’s a bit of a price war between them.One other thing, when you go to the artisan market, sneak away and go to Malta Stone. It’s not on the tour, but you pass by it. They have very reasonably priced jewelry. Worth skipping the glass blowing if you’ve seen it before. We wasted 30 minutes that day at a viewpoint that needed no more than 10 minutes and not nearly enough time at the artisan market.Stay at the Doubletree. There’s a 6000 year old ruin in the middle of the pool area! We booked an extra day on our own at the beginning using our Diamond status to get upgraded and we’re treated very well. Although we didn’t get points with the agents booking, they did transfer our status and kept our room upgrade overlooking the ruin and having a balcony view of the sunset. We also got room nights credit although not points.

Our tour with Sergio was one of the best times we have ever had. Sergio and his colleague Salvatore made us feel so comfortable at all times. Their passion for Sicily is so amazing and their knowledge of each city we visited gave us a great experience. They recommended the most incredible restaurants and made sure even our pictures came out beautifully. They went above and beyond to make us happy and we were so pleased. They are so easy to get along with and we can truly say we have two new friends forever in Sicily.

I can't remember a tour as good as this one. The sights are stunning, and our guides, Sergio and Salvador, provide excellent local knowledge. Live long residents who know Sicily inside out, including the most authentic restaurants. Our private vans were impeccably maintained and comfortable. Looking forward to our next trip.
