We highly recommend this adventure to lovers of authentic food and nature. We spent a few hours in the company of the amazing hosts, delicious truffle dishes and cherry rakia. The walk in the hazelnut garden with our guide - the dog Claire, was an incredible experience!

Truffle hunting with Casey, Angel and Claire the dog! An amazing trip in the countryside! First an invigorating walk searching for truffles under the hazel bushes. And Claire found enough truffles for Casey to cook delicious dinner for all of us! Dinner was served in the cosy Truffle Room where we warmed up next to the huge fireplace ( and also by the fiery cherry Brandy they produce on the estate)! We ate, we drank, we met nice, warm people and we had the best of time! Thank you, Casey and Angel for your hospitality, for your warmth and the passion you put in everything you do! We'll come again! That's a promise!

In mid-February this year, we had an exciting experience in the orchard with truffle trees of Casey and Angel Angelovi, in the village of Shipochano, where we participated in a truffle hunt organized by them. We spent a pleasant time in nature, learned many interesting facts about these precious mushrooms from our gracious hosts and finally, in a cozy and friendly atmosphere, enjoyed the special menu of black French truffle dishes prepared by Casey. We sampled the fragrant truffle butter and sourdough bread, mouth-watering mushroom soup and truffle pasta. It was all delicious, served with a flair for the beautiful, and our hospitable hosts Casey and Angel made sure all guests felt pleasant and comfortable. This was such an incredible experience. The guides are so knowledgable and friendly, and we had lovely conversations about truffles, Kyustendil, cooking and many other things. I cannot recommend this experience enough, and if you are in Kyustendil, this is something you need to do.

Casey, Angel, and their truffle-hunting dog Claire were amazing hosts and I would highly recommend this experience! They taught us a lot about truffles and farming in general. The smell and taste of the fresh truffles are unlike any truffle oils and flavored foods I've ever had before - it was really amazing! We had a lovely dish prepared with our truffles paired with a delicious cherry rakia, also made by Angelove. We also bought Angelove's castille soaps which are very natural and gentle on my skin. It was an amazing experience that I've already recommended to many of my friends!

The truffle hunt was very interesting, informative, and entertaining. Casey and her family are lovely people and it was a blast spending time with them. They affected all of us with their enthusiasm and energy.

It was great to join Casey, Angel and their smart dog, Clare, on a truffle hunt this January. They are very knowledgeable about truffles and we’ve learnt a lot on top of enjoying the nice surroundings and the tasty fare at the restaurant in Kyustendil where we tried a truffle-topped dish. I definitely recommend this activity!

I am definitely not a foodie, but I'm always up for trying something new, and this truffle hunting experience fit the bill perfectly! Casey and Angel and Claire (the truffle hunting dog) were extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer any and all questions. Casey's enthusiasm in particular was contagious! Even though I've never had an interest in truffles, I found myself wanting to know everything about them as we wandered around the orchard. I learned so much, and the truffle and rakia tasting afterwards were the perfect way to end the experience. A very unique day that I would recommend to anyone. I also learned that Kyustendil has a lot to offer, and I am sure we will be back someday!

This is a really unique experience for Bulgaria! Casey and her husband explained in great detail what it takes to grow truffles, including the dangers and risks. The flavor of the fresh truffles is indescribable. I bought some to take home and am obsessed with the smell

This was well worth the cost, my husband and I both really enjoyed it. We hope to do it again when we have guests visiting Bulgaria. We loved hearing about Casey and Angel’s experience becoming farmers in Bulgaria, and their vision for the future. And we got such an interesting education about truffles. The truffle black market, truffle thrives, truffle freshness, how they grow, varieties… it was fascinating. Claire, the cutest truffle hunting dog, found 13 truffles the day we were there. Claire finds them then Angel digs them up. Claire gets a treat and a belly rub. We get to hold and smell truffles just unearthed. After the “hunt” we went to a local restaurant and the chef prepared a dish for each of us that included a very generous amount of fresh truffle. Plus other tastings. (You can also order additional food from the menu, a la carte). I admit we were surprised to find such an excellent restaurant in a remote part of Bulgaria, and we hope to return. I would suggest to others to make a whole weekend if it, stay in a spa hotel in Kyustendil overnight too. A very unique day in Bulgaria, I highly recommend.

I have been watching Angelove Estate from a far for a while now, and was so excited to finally participate in one of their events. The wait was worth it! A delightful experience in the fresh air and beautiful views of the valley and mountains from their land. The most unique aspect of the Truffle Hunt, was their darling Truffle hunting dog. She was like a heat guided missile, finding well developed Truffles at every prompting. Both Casey and Angel are very knowledgable about the local agriculture and ecology, especially all the finer aspects of Truffles. They were happy to share their information about anything related to Truffles. After the hunt, we were treated to a delicious truffle inspired meal at a local restaurant where the Angelova's are on a first name basis with the chef. We enjoyed truffle infused dishes along with a tasting of their Angelove Estate distillery's signature Cherry Raki. I can't wait to enjoy another event when I am in the area.

We went out on a sunny Thursday for a walk with Casey and her family. Amazing atmosphere and very cozy ambiance. Quite knowledgeable about truffles with a very well organized tasting after that in the center of Kyustendil.

We had a great time: you meet up with the group (which is kept tight, so you feel personally included and taken care of) and begin your truffle day - walking around the trees whilst enjoying a spectacular view of the mountains and nature, and while Casey and Angel tell you about the truffle culture and specificities. We found a few quite big ones. The hunt is followed by a lunch (included in the package, as of Dec. 2022) with, you guessed it, a truffle dish. Casey and Angel are not just very knowledgable on the subject but also a very fun company. They banter and tell stories, so it makes for a really good day in nature - honestly, something I could do more of, so I am glad that there are activities like this one available somewhere close to Sofia yet in a region which I would otherwise maybe not visit. Would recommend, definitely - it's a rather special experience.

We found a handful of truffles in all shapes and sizes with magnificent aromatic smells. The demonstration in the orchard was well organized, very accurate, with a friendly group and really authentic, detailed explanation about truffle growing, hunting, and eating - Total sensory overload!Afterward, the bonus was the gourmet-style lunch featuring the truffles we found that morning! Casay explained us all the secrets about growing truffles and then the use of truffle in the kitchen while Angel demonstrated his professionalism working with their friendly truffle dog. It was very educational and we definitely recommend for a couples away day or family experience with the kids!We have already done the tour 2x and will again with friends as it’s only an hour from Sofia. You can stay overnight at a lovely hotel for a wonderful weekend experience.

Loved meeting Casey and her family, they were very friendly and provided great knowledge about truffles and more! Plus the dog Clair was adorable. The food in the restaurant where you are headed to after the hunting is very good. Overall it was very pleasant and different experience. Hope to come back next year!
