Chester Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Wonderful tour, certainly exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Paulus Maximus, (Patrick) was the perfect leader. He was knowledgeable, fluent, articulate, passionate and clearly loved his subject. Dressed as an authentic auxiliary in the Roman legion he led us on a great journey, highlighting not just the physical architectural remains in Chester, but the cultural, political and social aspects of life in the Roman Empire. I live relatively locally and I'm embarrassed that I hadn't previously taken advantage of a brilliant organisation like this to educate and enjoy myself. Fantastic value for money and strongly recommended. Make sure you manage to get Paulus as your guide!

Our Guide, Caroline, was pleasant, inclusive, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and an excellent communicator. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Chester; it was a brilliant introduction to the town and enthused us to go back to investigate it further for ourselves another day.

I went with a friend who was very hot day and my friend was slightly disabled, but we manage well we walked between restaurants. The guide was excellent. The food was excellent. It was for Tour and very good value for money. Lots of different foods and drinks. We went home very happy.

We had a fantastic time on this tour, seeing the sights and sampling some wonderful food and drink. Steph was a great tour guide and we'd really recommend this for anyone as a unique way to get to know Chester!

Anne you made our day from Chester full off fun as soon as we boarded the bus the scenery was lovely and your chatter had us in stichers even when I had problems getting off the bus when the step decided to play up!!!!! Keep up the good work busy bus is lucky to have you the day could not have been better ❤

Was great, friendly, informative guide. We were able to see Roman ruins that were not accessible unless on the tour. Lots of great historical information we thoroughly enjoyed our time, esp as the rain stopped!

Had an excellent time on the day tour, our tour guide Dave was just lovely. Just the right amount of stops to break up the drive & such beautiful locations all throughout the day. Great value for money, would highly recommend this tour to people of any age

Ended up having a private tour with Richard and Roger as nobody else showed up. I was highly impressed by the knowledge and care taken by the guides. They were entertaining and engaging despite it being only me! The pacing was good and didn’t feel quick or too slow, good value for money.If you are looking for a tour to get more information about the history of the city in a fun and unusual way I highly suggest checking this tour out. I will be checking out their other tours the next time I’m in Chester!

Perfect day out in North Wales with Adrian! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour today.Adrian was pleasant, polite and funny! Knowledgeable and answered everyone's questions. The timing of the stops were timed well, not too much, not too little. I would not have minded a bit more time in Llandudno, but that is me. The remainder of the stops were perfectly timed. The tour was very interesting to us Canadians who don't know much history of Wales. Adrian made it interesting, and with a few jokes thrown in. We prefer a smaller tour, and this one I believe had 16 tourists - just a perfect amount.If you are wondering about this tour - just book it - you won't be sorry you did! I was having a carers respite day and decided to book a busy bus tour to the Lake District and I was so pleased I did I had an amazing day all thanks to Tanya and Adrian pick up was prompt Adrian’s historical knowledge was never ending I was well informed and well shattered by the time I got home we spent plenty of time in 3 different places had time to shop time to enjoy the views and a lovely walk around the lake the weather was lovely the scenery amazing and the company was lovely I can’t wait to be able to book another tour I only wish they went to more places as I think there are only trips to 3 areas unless they change I will be keeping a close watch on their website overall I highly recommend this company.

Loved this tour, Isabelle’s passion for this era and her love of history and Chester shows all the way through the tour. We loved it, 90 minutes of interesting history, not too many stairs to climb. Highly recommend this tour and a visit to Chester information centre.

I had such a brilliant time on the Edwardian Lady walking tour around Chester. Izzy was incredibly knowledgeable, informative and entertaining, bringing the history to life in a really engaging way.She was also more than happy to answer questions that weren’t necessarily related to the Edwardian period, which made the whole experience feel really relaxed and interactive.A really enjoyable couple of hours and a great way to see Chester while learning lots along the way. Would definitely recommend!

I gifted my son this tour as a birthday present and we completed the tour together. We are both pretty active and really enjoy good food so it seemed a great idea to combine the two! Booking was really easy and I had great communication from Gareth prior to the date. Gareth met us in person on the day and we embarked on a really enjoyable few hours walking around the city and visiting some lovely eating places. My son and I are familiar with Chester but we learned some interesting new facts about the city. We also got to visit eating places we hadn’t thought about before, and some we weren’t aware existed! Gareth was a great communicator, both interested and interesting. He had prepared really well for our tour and the hosts at the eating places were welcoming and very hospitable. We ate some really delicious food and learned about its provenance. We both finished the tour feeling very full and having enjoyed a great experience together. I would definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to go ahead with another of the walking tours available.

We had a wonderful walking tour of Chester. Our highly knowledgeable tour guide, Phil, focused Chester's history and architecture - starting with the Roman's, through to the Victorian era and modern day. We learned so much about Chester, how unique it is, and how it has been the centre of trade for over 1000 years. I especially loved Phil's talk about the The Rows merchant trading system and how it still survives today. I highly recommend this tour!
