What To Expect
Experience the thrill of parasailing high above the crystal-clear waters of Lake Taupō while taking in breathtaking 360° views of the lake, surrounding mountains and, on clear days, Tongariro National Park. After checking in, our experienced crew will provide a full safety briefing before you board our purpose-built 9-metre parasail boat. Your flight begins and ends directly from the rear flight deck, so there's no need to enter the water. Once airborne, you'll soar up to 1,000 feet above the lake, enjoying approximately 10–12 minutes of peaceful flight with unforgettable panoramic views. If you're feeling adventurous, let the crew know and they'll finish your flight with an optional toe dip before bringing you safely back onto the boat. Depending on the number of guests onboard, the total experience lasts approximately 25–60 minutes.

- No experience is necessary.
- Flights depart and land from the boat—no swimming required.
- Solo, tandem and triple flights are available, subject to weather and weight limits.
- Combined flight weight must be between 70 kg and approximately 200 kg, although limits may vary depending on conditions at the skipper's discretion.

Dec 2021Although it is best for you to be comfortable in the water, you do not have to know how to swim. Each guest is provided with a buoyancy compensator (BC) that will assist with flotation.
Apr 2023Yes, the minimum age to parasail is 6 years old. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver prior to boarding the vessel. At Cool Destinations safety is our number one priority. The minimum weight required for parasailing is roughly 90 pounds. If the flyer is less than 90 pounds, they will simply fly tandem with someone not to exceed roughly 450 pounds combined weight. Weight requirements may differ due to wind conditions.
Feb 2022If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
