I am a professional chef and would be happy to share everything with you about Hungarian cuisine.
I love cooking and eating great food. It is fantastic when my kitchen is full of life: somebody is chopping onions, someone else is preparing the meat or kneading dough, and we are talking, laughing, and enjoying the wonderful smell of food filling the whole place.
While you are in Budapest, come, cook together, and enjoy this unique atmosphere in the centre.
This 100% hands-on cooking class gives you a memorable experience.
If you don't have enough time for the full 4-hour experience, please look for my "Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti", a 2.5-hour class where you make one iconic Hungarian dish and learn about local ingredients, cuisine, customs and everyday life. What To Expect
From the beginning to the end we make together a Hungarian 3-course menu (+ Hungarian bites). We work together as a team and provide all the ingredients, pots and kitchen equipment. Everybody makes the same menu, so the first guest to book can choose one of the following 3 menus.
During the cooking you can taste typical local ingredients and discover the flavors, traditions and stories that make Hungarian cuisine unique. We also talk about Hungary, local food, customs and history. At the end of the cooking we eat together and you can enjoy the result of your efforts with a glass of Hungarian wine. You will receive the recipes of the dishes.
Menu options - please, choose only ONE:
Menu A: Cold sour cherry soup, Chicken paprikas with dumplings, Gundel pancake
Menu B: Goulash soup (beef), Savoury pancake Hortobagy style (chicken), Apple Strudel. (made with filo dough)
Menu C: Creamy potato soup with smoked sausage, Stuffed cabbage (pork), Poppy-seed bread dumplings + vanilla custard
Minimum 4 participants are required for the class to run.
