Top Egypt Walking Tours

My wife and I did a Viking Nile cruise in March 2022 (which was excellent, by the way). But we wanted to see more of Egypt’s culture and history. If you go all the way to Egypt and do only pyramids and tombs, you’re missing half of Egypt’s story. So we contacted Muhammad Swefy (Mo) to do a custom all-day Islamic Architecture and Design tour in Cairo.Mo put together a great 7-hour tour, based on a route down historic Al-Muizz li-din Allah Street. This included the Madrassa and Mausoleum of Barquq, Madrassa of Qalaun, Al Azhar Mosque, Mosque-Madrassa of Al Ghouri, Al-Rifa’i Mosque, Mosque of Sultan Hassan, the medieval gates of the Cairo Citadel, and many other sites.Mo did a great job. He’s very knowledgeable in architecture, design, and culture, as well as the history of Cairo. He picked a fine place for lunch. We got to ride in tuk-tuks between some of the sites. And as everyone else has mentioned, he speaks English with only a slight trace of an accent.Frankly, I wouldn’t dream of visiting the interiors of active Cairo mosques without an Arabic speaking Muslim guide. Mo smoothed the way for us at all locations. We highly recommend him.My apologies to Mr. Swefy. I told him we’d write up a good review of his tour for the web, but it only took me 3 years.

Absolutely amazing day touring Saquara, Memphis, and the Pyramids. Nader was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. It was smooth and seamless. I even got to stop at local shops and have authentic Egyptian lunch. A+ 10 out of 10 highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience with Marco as our tour guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and very patient. He made the tour interesting and enjoyable by explaining the history and culture in a way that was easy to understand, and he was always happy to answer our questions. Marco went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having a great time. We truly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend Marco to anyone visiting Egypt!

Marco was a great guide, learned so much and made Cairo very interesting.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic time on the Downtown Cairo Tour. Special thanks to our guide, Ahmed Nashaat (“Nash”), who brought the city’s culture to life and explained the Egyptian way with warmth and insight. His knowledge and friendliness made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cairo!

That was a great experience, very informative and value of money. The journey length was as described. The atmosphere was friendly. It wasn't crowded. Now I have more amazing memories to look back in my life.

If you’re visiting Cairo, this tour is an absolute must. Spent the day exploring the incredible Saqqara Pyramid Complex, the Giza Pyramids, Memphis, a fascinating carpet school, and Heaven Essence Perfumery, before finishing with a delicious traditional Egyptian lunch. Along the way we were well looked after with snacks and cold bottled water. What truly made the experience exceptional was my guide, Yemani. His knowledge of Ancient Egypt and Egyptology was outstanding, and he brought every site to life with fascinating stories and historical insights. He was kind, engaging, patient, and even became my personal photographer, making sure I came away with some fantastic memories of the day!A huge thank you also to our driver, Muhammed Alaa, who made the journey seamless and stress-free. He drove safely, the vehicle was comfortable, and he was always ready and waiting to take us to the next stop. This was honestly one of the most incredible travel experiences I’ve ever had - unforgettable from start to finish. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. If you have the chance to request Yemani as your guide, do it. He’s an A++++ guide and an all-round genuinely great guy.

We were picked up from the hotel by Abdul in an air-conditioned car and visited/walked through the locations specified in the trip. Abdul answered all our questions and told us so many interesting things about the country, the people, and life in Egypt. He took beautiful photos of us (it was just the two of us, mom and son) and we felt super well taken care of and safe. That was very important to me, which is why I booked a private tour and not a group one. We could ask anything at any time and stop to let the impressions sink in. Abdul was totally nice, friendly, and dedicated. It really could not have been better. Thank you very much for the great experience. 10 out of 5 stars.

Ahmed Nashaat was a great guide and the tour was fantastic. Enjoyed seeing the downtown area of Cairo and tasting koshary for the first time.

Fantastic tour guide and agenda. Coming from Chicago for the first time, and with only a limited amount of time to sample a small bit of culture and history- our visit lead by Ali was very enjoyable and informative, fun, and we learned so much all in 6 hours!!

The half-day tour to the Giza pyramids with our guide Ahmed was excellent. He was very friendly and explained everything to us well and took great photos of us and organized everything well. Thank you for the great experience. We will recommend you to others

We made the visit in Spanish with Gigi throughout the day in Cairo. She is an excellent guide and expert in Egyptology. Very very good and super friendly. Recommendation 100%
