Covilha Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

We had a great tour accompanied by Sergio. He showed us places we had never found ourselves and made us experience the diversity of Serra da Estrela in an amazing way. Sergio is a true craftsman with heart for this beautiful place.

Sergio was exceptional. Discovered places that only we could not find. Just great. I recommend 100 montanhas... All happiness..thank you. obrigado

Although there is no snow at this time, the Serra da Estrela continues to reveal its unique beauties. It was a very well spent morning with Mr. Manuel, who guided us not only through the stunning landscapes, but also through the geological, military and religious history of this region. I strongly recommend to make the visit accompanied by someone who knows the Serra well, because this is the only way to discover details and stories that would otherwise go unnoticed.

We very much liked the attention received by Mr. Manuel. I recommend 100%. :) Looking at the landscapes was wonderful and with all the explanation Mr. Manuel shared much better.

Tour of Portugal, starting from Lisbon, climbing by coast, Fatima, Nazare, Aveiro, Porto, Braga, by rental car, 2334 kms, coming from Guimaraes, passing by River Douro, Trancoso, with good roads, spectacular view...no snow in Covilha, on site, but quite cold... Gouveia , White Castle back to Lisbon

We booked this tour at the last minute and we had a great time! We were the only ones so that was a bit special! Alex led us to a variety of places and related a lot about the area and its history. The scenery is spectacular and gives a different feeling of Portugal. The cheese and liquor tasting was fun and we had a taste of some uniquely local beverages. Alex was very informative, engaging and spoke excellent English.

We knew the villages would be fantastic, but our guide and interpreter, in English, were real treats. They obviously love what they do and love the history and culture which they generously shared with us. The day was intermittently foggy and rainy, but that only added to the allure of the vilages and the countryside. We highly recommend Eurotours and will, no doubt, book with them the next time we visit Portugal.

We booked a tour with Sérgio Santos from 100montanhas.pt. He collected us from our hotel and made sure we were comfortable. We took us for a scenic drive to serra da Estrela. We stopped long the way to see the famous is Poço do Inferno (near Manteigas), with a waterfall of about 10 meters in a scenic ravine. We then continued up the mountain and stopped at a souvenir shop where we were able to taste cheese and try wines. Unfortunately, it started snowing as we reached the top of the tower so we did not spend much time in the snow. We managed to take a few pictures and play for a few minutes in the snow. Sérgio was knowledgeable and kept us entertained the entire tour. We would highly recommend him and book him again. He was also able to advise us on restaurants near our hotel and offer insight for further trips in the future.

We made a great trip to Portugal, and the Serra da Estrela tour managed to be the highlight. The guide Sérgio was extremely friendly, including with the children, telling various stories and details of the mountain, which he clearly knows very well. Without it, we would not have known the hidden places of the mountain, with the most stunning landscapes, always safely. It took us through exclusive trails for accredited guides, without the traffic of the time and where a regular car would have difficulty entering. And also took us to a typical lunch in the region, where you can taste the delicious Serra da Estrela cheese.

The Tour was great and the guide super nice. We drove from the city, up the mountain, stopped a few times and then tried local cheese and ham at the highest peak of continental Portugal. After that we drove to Poço do Inferno and back to the city. It took exactly the 4 hours and was totally worth it. The views are amazing!

Amazing! Manuel is a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable about he mountain and took all the time to show us all the special spots.

Great guides sharing stories, stunning views and knowledge of the Serra da Estrela. We had a wonderful experience and saw all fascinating highlights of the area and had it all explained. We both had time with the guides - and some time to explore the top of Serra Da Estrela on our own.

The park and the sights were amazing, they are worth the detour by Covilha! Delicious tasting of local cheeses, liquors and meat. Our guide Alex also explained the history of the region which was very interesting and completed the tour

I want to leave my sincere thanks to 100 Mountains for the fantastic experience they provided us in Serra da Estrela. It was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. A very special thanks to our guide Sergio. His deep knowledge of the region, fauna and flora is impressive, but what really stands out is his sympathy and passion for what he does. Sergio did not just guide us; he told us stories, led us to stunning places outside the usual tourist circuits and always guaranteed maximum safety and comfort for the whole group. The organization was impeccable and the attention to detail made all the difference. If you are looking for an authentic, professional and enriching tour of the Serra da Estrela, do not hesitate to choose 100 Mountains and, if you can, ask for Sergio! I highly recommend and hope to be back soon to explore new tracks with this team.

Fantastic experience - both from the Serra da Estrela and the contracted company. Sergio is a great guide, greatly increasing the quality of the tour. I recommend!

Fantastic experience! Sergio is sensational, attentive, deeply acquainted with the region. We love è recommend the Tour.
