Amazing tour
Wow, wow, wow. What an amazing tour with Harijs. He claimed to provide the best tour in Riga and he could be right.
We went as a family of five with children aged 14-21 and he kept everyone engaged for what ended up being a 5 hour plus tour with a short break in the middle. The tour was full of detail, information, funny anecdotes and real engagement - and took us through the old city and the new art nouveau district. His background in teaching and guiding tours really helped in bringing his content to life.
Would recommend to anyone who is thinking of taking the tour.

Best Riga tour
A great tour of a wonderful city with a fantastic guide. Riga becomes even more kaleidoscopic once you begin to see it through its history, expertly told by Harijs. From its late pagan roots, through Germanic, Swedish, Russian, and Soviet rule, to modern independence within the European Union, Harijs reveals Latvia's past through Riga's architecture, urban layout, and the national character of the present-day state. Honestly, our tour with Harijs was perfect!

There aren’t enough outstanding descriptions to give justice to this tour. The day we spent with Harijs was filled with educational details about Riga and the history of this beautiful country. On the walking tour he pointed out historical details about buildings and churches. The part of the tour that was dedicated to archaeological buildings designers and details was fascinating. He is an exceptional storyteller with incredible pride in the people, their accomplishments, their celebrations and the culture in Latvia. Our trip to the market is a special part of the tour and should not be missed. Trying to describe the size of the market is impossible, but what made the tour was his interest in having us experience Latvian meat, chicken, cheese and syrup. It was a unique and memorable experience. As he drove around Riga he selected things for us to see that he thought would be of interest based on discussions we had during the day. Lunch (after the market) was at a restaurant that served buffet style Latvian food. All fresh and delicious. As a tour guide Harjis is the best. He tailors the tour, mixes it up between walking and driving, gives you an experience unlike any other tour guide we’ve had and has so much knowledge about the history and traditions of his country. We were sorry that the day had to end.

Wow, what an experience! If you want to enjoy and taste Latvia, do this tour!!
Our tour guide Harijs was just fantastic! He explained us the whole story about the market, the delicious food and also other stories about Riga/Latvia. His explained it in a funny way that makes it very interesting! We loved listening to him!
We could taste a lot of different local food and he explained everything about it. Finaly we had a great Latvian lunch!
We highly recommend this tour for everyone who loves to taste the local food of Latvia!

Good trip outside of Riga
Had a very pleasant day as I was the only person the guide was flexible with the tour but I was quite happy to just let him show me the best places, his name was Harijs and was very good and knowledge. The trip was well worth doing to see the countryside outside of Riga. We went to a beach side restaurant that he normally goes to with family and friends for a light lunch stop before we went out to the bogs

Fantastic
Harijs (Harry) was a first class guide for our trip.
He was happy to adjust the itinerary to suit our party and to suit the weather.
Having been trying to around this trip for over 2 years, trip was firstly for spring, then winter, and finally ended up being in early summer and probably was the best time for it, but nothing was too much trouble. Harijs was happy to adapt the tour to suit the season.
Would thoroughly recommend Harijs and Honest Tours to enhance your visit to Riga.
Beautiful country and with a lot of history.
Hope to return again one day.

Guide and driver all in one!
‘Harry’ hired a minibus for us and was an excellent driver and guide.
We stopped at various points along the way, all of which were interesting and very enjoyable.
His knowledge of the places we visited was extremely good and if there was anything he didn’t know, he found out for us.
This was our second day with him and we all said we should have booked him for a 3rd too!

A fantastic tour of an amazing City!
Our guide was outstanding! Right away he asked how much we wanted to know, and when we said “tell us everything” he kept us informed about the places, buildings and history of Riga through our walking tour. Seeing and comparing the various architectural styles Riga displays throughout its history was a real bonus!
As a child who grew up under Soviet domination and has lived in Latvia since they were freed in 1991, he had unique perspectives on life before the change, during the transition, and today as a member of the EU..
You only get what you ask for with guided tours, and small-group ones are the way to really get to know a place and the people who call it home. I can’t thank Cool Destinations enough for putting us with our guide, who shared so much with us about his own experiences and the challenges Latvians faced for so many difficult years. This walking tour made this stop truly memorable.

Harijs came up when I searched for the best tours in Riga, and he absolutely lived up to that billing. His business, Honest Tours, offers exactly what the name suggests.We arranged a full day private tour by email, bespoke to our cruise schedule, covering the old town, the art deco neighbourhoods, contemporary Riga and lunch. A mix of walking and being driven around the city.What sets Harijs apart is his storytelling. He draws on his own lived experience to bring Riga to life in a way that no scripted tour could replicate. Childhood memories of the Russians coming for Latvia again, lazy summer afternoons watching hockey in the city centre. It feels personal and authentic rather than rehearsed.We walked the old town, stepped inside a church to see the extraordinary organ, wandered through the market in the old zeppelin hangars and tasted local cheese and bread. The art deco quarter was a real highlight. We also drove through the Soviet era residential blocks, which gave a fascinating dimension to the city’s more recent history.Lunch was at a local restaurant chosen by Harijs, with genuine Latvian food that was excellent.Honestly one of the highlights of the entire cruise. If you are stopping in Riga, do not hesitate.

Amazing!
Harijs was such a lovely tour guide! Not only did he show us some traditional Latvian food at the market but the knowledge behind everything was amazing, nice to know why some food is popular and how it came about. I would definitely recommend this tour, and definitely recommend to try everything! My favourite is still the pie!

Highlight of our trip to Riga
The highlight of our trip by far. Harijs was so lovely and informative for the whole tour. Not only explaining the food we were eating and seeing but also telling us about Riga and Latvia as a whole. The market is very interesting to see and the food was all lovely and different. We done this on our last day at Riga but I would recommend doing this day 1 as the information we got from this tour was better than the walking tour we had done around the city of Riga for understanding the culture and the people.

Prolly the best tour I’ve ever done!!
Harijs was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Latvian history and the areas we toured. He went out of his way to make sure we felt a part of the history. He set up a lunch for us and then on the fly made changes due to my wife’s food sensitivities. The route was super interesting, and beautiful. The small towns were picturesque and gorgeous. Being from Canada the whole area felt like home and Harijs made us feel like we were part of the the history! 100% I would recommend Harijs and his tour again.
