Amazing route, self guided, impossible to get lost, several amazing stops, vistas, and even a coffee/ burger barge along the way! The rental shop did great to set the bikes up and all of them worked perfectly!

Brilliant Trip

This was our third time using Central Cycle Trails. We travelled with friends from Australia and absolutely loved our holiday. From pick up in Queenstown to our finish in Middlemarch everything was perfect. Our bikes were superior electric, our bags were transported daily to our fabulous accommodation, all arranged by CCT. So glad I didn’t chicken out.

This was a 5 of 5 experience. I was a bit nervous after watching many youtube. I’m an older 61 years man with intermediate level biking skills, although I do use an ebike here at home a lot. Made a wrong turn at the end of the first bridge in Cromwell, but I just ended up visiting several wineries in the area as well. I was still done in 4 hours. Had to walk a short 50 feet or so when the trail got too narrow, but I did it! So happy I went on a fall day, basically had the trail all to myself. Would not have enjoyed it on a busy day!

Great trail. Great food and drink

The first half of the trail is easy and full of wonderful food and drink. The second half is technical. Our legs are sore the next day. What views! What fun! The bikes were in great shape. Hosts were friendly and knowledgeable.

Superb experience

Outstanding team. We had an idyllic 5 day experience doing the Otago Rail Trail, organised by CCT. I can't recommend them highly enough. Exceptional service, on call when we needed it. The e-bikes were top-notch. The accommodation and meals they organised for us were great, special call-out to the Marchburn Lodge! All of this meant we could focus on savouring the incredible experience, amazing scenery and peaceful vibe. The long sun-soaked days made it extra spectacular.

A beautiful ride

Our group of 4 booked with this company in November 2022 for the Central Otago Rail Trail and Roxburgh Gorge trip and they made sure we had a wonderful time. Their e-bikes and panniers were just great, (the gel seat covers were a blessing)! Staff were friendly, helpful and took the trouble to make sure all the gear was perfect for each rider. The shuttle service was also perfect. Drivers that took us to Clyde and to the Roxbugh trail head were friendly and informative. Thank you CCT !

A fantastic addition to NZ's cycling trails.

This trail was the first part of a two week trip around the central Otago cycling trails all of which were organised by CCT. They were brilliant! This is the second time we have used the company (they were called Cycle Surgery, the first time two years ago) We were shuttled to Cromwell for the start of the ride after being fitted out with our bikes the previous day-first time we had used E-bikes so a little bit of trepidation there!! However, the bikes were easy to get used to and the start of the ride gave us plenty of time to work out how to get the best out of them. Unless you are exceptionally fit, e-bikes are the way to go and we didn't regret our decision. A wonderful experience but we had to be very attentive as parts of the trail are very narrow and there are a number of blind corners to negotiate. Nervous riders perhaps beware! All in all, a great experience. Whilst we initially thought that having done the ride once, that was enough. However on reflection i feel a second time is warranted just to enjoy more the scenery with more breaks .

Friendly, efficient staff and well-maintained comfortable bikes

Efficient, friendly staff at Central Cycle Trail Company in Clyde. I rented an e-bike to ride the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail with my son and his partner who rented normal (manual) bikes from the Central Cycle Trail Company. Our bikes were dropped off at Pisa Moorings and care was taken over fitting before we headed off to cycle via Cromwell and Bannockburn to Clyde. All bikes were well-maintained and comfortable to ride - all had gel saddle covers.A couple of days later I hired a normal bike from CCT - again, a well maintained bike. It made for an equally enjoyable ride via the River Trail to Alexandra and onwards to Doctor's Point on the Roxburgh Gorge Trail before turning round and cycling to Alexandra and back to Clyde via the Otago Rail Trail.Many thanks to the helpful, friendly team at Central Cycle Trails for a great time cycling the trails in Central Otago. I would certainly rent bikes from them again.

Good except for the desk staff

Christine is so good, as are most of the staff - excellent- although one disclaimer. When there was a miscommunication with our booking, discovered when luckily I checked in a day early, the two women behind the desk were most negative and quite disappointing to deal with. Good service would have it that clients would be reassured that everything that could be done, would. Christine’s cheery nature helped greatly to mitigate the problem.

A Great Day out but check!

A great day out, quite a challenge for a 80+ but very enjoyable. Fairly new bike with good tyres, brakes and powerful. However there were two negative points: No "step through" bikes available, they were all "hard tail" bikes. If you need "step through" check and maybe look elsewhere. Our bikes were not capable of taking panniers. On a hot day you don't want a rucksack on your back. Finally, arrive in sufficient time to make sure the bike is set up to fit you a well as possible.

Great service, best eBikes!

Take a day to cycle Lake Dunstan, great views, lots of places to stop and rest and take in the view. Interesting trail with lots of different sections from s-bends to long straights and to top it off, the best eBikes from Central Cycle Trails. Professional service, easy to meet them, get setup on the bikes, fitted helmets, panniers and an easy tutorial at the start. The bikes were also new and by the far the best ones I have used. Great experience and would use them again.
