From the moment my mom and I arrived, our host and hunting guide made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. She was incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about truffle hunting and sharing her love of the local culture with us.What made this experience truly unforgettable was that it wasn’t just a tour—it felt like we were being welcomed into her world. We had the opportunity to go truffle hunting, learn about the process, and then be welcomed into her beautiful home where she prepared an incredible meal for us.Sitting around her table, enjoying the food we had helped discover, sharing stories, laughing, and experiencing this beautiful tradition together was something we will never forget. It felt incredibly authentic and personal—like we were guests of a friend rather than tourists on an excursion.The food was absolutely delicious, the experience was fascinating, and our host was genuinely wonderful. You could feel how much pride and love she has for her home, her traditions, and what she does.We came for a truffle hunt and left with a beautiful memory, full hearts, and a wonderful connection to the local culture. ❤️If you’re looking for something authentic and completely different from the typical tourist experience, I cannot recommend this experience enough. Sorry this review is being posted so late! Family of 4 did this tour in late June. Jerneja was a wonderful host - we mixed up our tour date due to OUR mistake, and she was still able to graciously accommodate us. We learned so much about truffles and the food and drinks were delicious. It was a terrific insight into the hospitality of the Istrian people.

What a wonderful...
What a wonderful experience. I have been to many caves in the US. None of them offers the same scenery and experience as this one with a deep dropoff into a sharp canyon with a roaring river beneath ALL within a cave. WOW!! While the beauty of this cave is the main attraction of this tour, I like to give some heads-ups on the stair climbing required towards the end of the tour. It is not to be underestimated. It requires a lot of physical strength if you are not in good shape physically.Because of the descending path into the cave in the first 50% of the tour, you will have to climb back out all of it and probably in the last 10% of the tour, making it a much steeper climb out. The climb out can be broken into 3 sections.(1) from river level (~170 meters or ~500 feet below ground surface) to ground surface level all within a relatively short distance. This section involves continuous stairs and is very physically demanding. The hard part about this section is that it is hard to stop to rest for a few seconds before continuing climbing because the tour guide climbs fast and everyone has to keep pace with him. Furthermore, the path is narrow, making stop almost impossible as people behind continue to climb up. If you stop to rest, you are blocking their path. Upon reaching this ground surface, the guided portion of the tour ends.(2) from ground surface to where the funicular car is via return path option 1, it involves another continuous and strenuous stairs climbing probably just as much as the climbing in section 1. This was a surprise to me as I thought reaching the ground surface means almost reaching the end of climbing. I would estimate another 100-150 meters (or 300–450 feet) of climbing in a relatively short distance, making the climb quite steep and exhausting.(3) upon reaching the top of the funicular car, there is further climbing back to the ticket office level but at a more gradual pace with ascending path and stairs. I estimate the height climbed in the last section is probably 1/3 of that in section 1 or 2.Upon returning back to the ticket office, I was totally exhausted. So be aware of the not-so-easy climb out if you are not in good shape physically (like me). Meanwhile, enjoy while inside the cave. I keep telling myself that beauty of the cave is worth of effort to climb out in order for me to forget about the climb out experience. Haha!!

It was a small group of 6 people plus the driver in a van traveling for 30 to 40 minutes. The actual tour had a dedicated knowledgeable guide at the caves. The caves are impressive to view as is the path carved into the side of the caverns to view the caverns. It was a fun and interesting experience. It isn't a tour for those who are claustrophobic or can't handle heights. Also there are many steps so would not be recommended for those who have difficulty walking.

We had a very special experience together with Sara and her sweet dog Liza. From the first moment you can feel the passion and love that Sara puts into what she does. The activity takes place in a picturesque grove in Slovenia, where you have the opportunity to participate in first person in the search for truffles. Sara explains everything with great patience and competence: what is the truffle, how it grows, and above all the fundamental role of dogs in this fascinating tradition. It is not a simple demonstration, but a real practical and engaging experience. But it doesn't end there. After research, Sara welcomed us to her home for an amazing tasting. Being an expert in truffle processing, she made us taste delicious dishes, including a truffle pasta that we still remember with enthusiasm. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover an authentic Slovenia: made of nature, traditions, and above all genuine and passionate people. A memory that we will carry with us for a long time ❤️

Great day in Koper and Ljubljana
My family and I took a cruise in May and had the opportunity to visit beautiful Slovenia. Our fantastic guide Igor started the tour by taking us to Ljubljana where he gave us a walking tour of the downtown area. On Fridays in the Spring, they have a Food Festival at lunchtime so we were able to sample some wonderful local cuisine and beers. Then it was on to the famous caves which were amazing – take a jacket because it’s a little chilly. Igor gave us great recommendations all along the way and plenty of time to explore and do a little shopping. If you are looking for a full day excursion this one is perfect to see two popular locations with a very scenic drive. Thanks Igor for the wonderful day!
