Northern China Travel Guides (Updated October 2026)

Great food and great experience. Our guide Winnie was very knowledgeable and fun and kept the tour running smoothly. There was more than enough for a dinner, and unlimited drinks as well. Went with a group of fellow wedding guest travelers and I didn’t know any of them well going in but left having made a couple new friends. Overall would recommend!

Great experience with Litchi! We went to four delicious stops and tried all the key local Beijing food. Litchi has her favorites! All was excellent and I left stuffed with some new favorites of my own.

Sophia was fantastic and really helpful....she knew all the history by heart and answered many other historical questions. I would highly recommend her as a guide

The Summer Palace is absolutely beautiful and something that you should do. The gardens are so calm and beautiful and our guide Jerry was amazing. He is so knowledgeable and made the tour so interesting for us. I highly recommend

Amazing experience. Our guide was so kind and servicial. The Great Wall was incredible after following their tip to arrive before 8am and skip the long queues. We stayed a round 2.5 hours and the guide was wonderful!

We have an amazing tour with Ranee, she has a perfect english and she told us about all the Chinese History we learn a lot. We recommend this tour with Ranee

Lydia is SUPER. It's very interesting, we really enjoyed the trip. She gave a lot of interesting news.

Great experience and clear communication! Very considerate as provided snacks after a long flight

Another great option for those short on time and want to explore other key sites besides Forbidden City and Great Wall. Jessie was superb, both in terms of sharing the history and also management of the whole day, we were able to get ahead of traffic and peak rush and ended much earlier around 4pm. If you are Muslim though the lunch options are very limited in Hutongs so grab a quick pizza and explore the area a bit more instead. Jessie also accommodated my request to be dropped off at the 798 Art District instead of my hotel (if you have opted for pick and drop) which was super convenient and fully recommended! Lots of great dinner options there and easy to get a taxi back home.

I had the most amazing morning learning about local breakfast foods with Winnie! There were a lot more dishes than I expected, and the experience felt really special. Definitely recommend if you want to find hidden gems for food!

What a day out with our guide May, such deep knowledge, with information shared with such passion and care. We all learnt so much, and the tour gave us a far deeper experience than we ever could’ve imagined. May was such a lovely person and very generous guide. Patient with questions and when we needed a break from the sun, she accommodated. Would higher recommend this tour.

My tour guides were incredible. Great English. Great history. And really made this worth it. The trek itself is legendary. It’s hard work though. Be prepared to live on the wild side. This is not a casual hike. But one when you complete leaves you feeling highly gratified. If you’re looking for adventure. This is it!! Virtually zero tourists as well.

The food was delicious and all the restaurants we visited were authentic. Winnie's knowledge of Beijing's culinary history was excellent!

Our guide Jenny and driver were amazing! The summer palace was beautiful and our guide had so much knowledge to share with us throughout the day. She knew all the best sites and tips for seeing things at each location. The lunch spot was incredible as well! Definitely recommend doing this private tour to get the most out of your day and have a truly authentic experience with a knowledgeable guide.

Overall the tour was well organized, there was plenty of time for pictures and hiking a part of the wall , the guide Susie was excellent and gave us a lot of information about the History of China and today's China . Lunch was very good. Would recommend the tour with no reservations.

Excellent day out. James is a great guy and made everything easy. His pick for lunch was a highlight as well. Highly recommended.
