Montreux Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

I learned a lot about how chocolate was made in a pretty fun way. It's free if you have the Swiss travel pass but affordable, even if you don't. They provide a lot of free chocolate samples of a lot of different foods of chocolate.

Our guide/driver Roger made a great day even better with his knowledge of the history, wildlife and geography of not only Zermatt and the Alps, but also along the route we traveled by bus to reach Zermatt. I was a little disappointed that Zermatt was such a “tourist trap” but that detracted only slightly from a truly memorable experience. I definitely recommend adding the Glacier Paradise segment to your day, as the views are simply awesome from the mountain top.

We spent two great days with Emmanuel during our two weeks in Switzerland. One day was exploring the art of cheeses in and around Gruyere and the other exploring exclusive wineries in Lavaux.His vehicle was very comfortable for our group of 4 adults and he was a personable and knowledgeable guide, helping us explore the culture and taking us to off the beaten path secret places. He could not have been more accommodating and flexible with his scheduling and we really enjoyed our time with him.We often seek our guides in our frequent overseas travel and Emmanuel is the type of person we always look for when we do. You can’t go wrong spending time with him during your holiday.Highly recommended

A big thank you to David, the chocolatier, and to his adorable assistant Paula for this magnificent moment shared with my boyfriend. We loved discovering the world of chocolate and learning how to make our truffles. David shared his expertise with passion and generosity, and Paula helped make the experience even more pleasant thanks to her kindness and good humor. We are leaving with delicious truffles, but above all with a very beautiful memory for two. Thanks again for this wonderful workshop, we highly recommend it!

We swapped from the extended tour to the shorter version as the weather forecast was bad on the original day. Swapping was easy via the official tour guide website. The tour was fantastic. The host was very knowledgeable and there is also an official audio guide that adds to what he says and to the overall experience, making it a combination of a traditional walking tour and a self navigating audio tour. There are great details of Freddie's time in Montreux and some really moving stuff in the commentary. Highly recommended,

It was one of the highlights of our Swiss travel in the Montreux area this year 2026. Amin( I hope I spelled it right?!) was the driver and tour guide for our 13 member group. He’s an absolute gem of a guide. Very professional , courteous , funny , engaging and knowledgeable. You better ask for this guy when you book this day tour. I have traveled a lot and I will rate him Excellent!!! As for the experience , the Tissot Peak Walk is a Must. I’ve done other Alpine activities and the thrill of walking that bridge with zero visibility when the clouds rolled in is just thrilling. The pick up in Montreux is on time and the MB sprinter ride is just the right fit for that zig zag drive up into those Swiss mountain. Amin needs a raise Cool Destinations management ! He drives like a real pro !

Peaceful 2 hour trip around Lake Geneva. We enjoyed 2 bottles of wine along the way. Take 2 hours and RELAX!

arrived in the morning at 09:30. We could still park (for free) along the road. We are still Dutch.. we can buy the tickets for the cabin upstairs immediately without a row. And five minutes later we leave. In two stages you will be brought up. It's breathtakingly beautiful. Walked over the suspension bridge, took a walk over the glacier (2.5 km one-way). Upon returning we drank delicious cappuccino and around 14:30 we headed back to ‘home’. Absolutely recommended. Worth the money as far as we're concerned. Unique vistas.

It was one of the best parts of my Switzerland trip: the trail was phenomenal, and the factory tour was like no other, especially the first section where it told you about the history of chocolate. Overall, an excellent visit!

Our guide Yasmin was knowledgeable, flexible, and patient. Our tour of old Montreux was filled with history, great views and photo ops. We three women had different needs and expectations, and Yasmin listened and navigated our tour accordingly, as we walked up the hilly streets and back down to where we started.

Emmanuel was an excellent tour guide. Adaptable, helpful and able to communicate effectively with the different age groups.

Everything went well, only it was somewhat difficult to buy drinks because the bar was rarely attended.
