Monteverde Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

My husband and I were paired with one other couple so it was a nice small group. Lots of animal sightings - frogs, tarantula, toucan, owl, sloth moving around, butterflies, etc. Our guide assisted with pictures and shared his at the end. He was knowledgeable but we had a hard time understanding his english as he had a heavy accent so we missed much of what he was saying.

This was the best nature tour we went on! Our guide was awesome and we saw SO MANY THINGS. Highly recommend

The zip lining was incredible! The hanging bridges were beautiful! The entire experience was so amazing, I highly recommend this experience. The grounds were extremely well kept and the staff were phenomenal. We had lunch at the restaurant, which was fresh, hot and delicious. 5-stars all around!

Our guides Frij and Daniel were amazing. Took excellent care of the group including 4 kids - and made the experience fun and safe - even for the nervous adults! An incredible experience in the cloud forest canopy with amazing views. So worth it!

What an incredible day in the Monteverde cloud forest! Our guide Kevin and our driver Christian were the best! They picked our family up at our villa in Tamarindo at 5:30am and took us into the mountains to zipline, see sloths and hike through the forest and hanging bridges. The ziplines were exciting and the cloudforest was beautiful! I would highly recommend this full day trip with Native’s Way to see and experience a different part of the country. Be sure to ask for Kevin and Christian!

This was an excellent night tour. In smaller groups we saw lots of amazing animals and Michael was an outstanding guide. Really cared about the animals and got us some amazing photos. Highly recommended!

This was amazing! Our guide Marcos was fantastic and had a huge knowledge base of the cloud forest and surrounding area! His English was flawless, sadly my spanish is not. We were able to the beautiful Resplendent Quetzal and many others!

Pasion is a Monteverde-based small tour company, offering a variety of “package deals” not just in Monteverde but throughout Costa Rica. They did an excellent job for us with all details, including travel arrangements and lodging. The naturalist they provided for the Cloud Forest was superb. Although we signed up for a package deal at Arenal (in addition to our time at Monteverde), they were very flexible in accommodating our individual requests, and gave us daily e-mail updates on any details. Very personable, and bilingual. Highly recommended.

There are too many wonderful things to say about Pasion Costa Rica. My contacts were Susu and Royner and I don’t think this trip would have been nearly as special and smooth without these 2. You want a birthday cake delivered to the hotel the day you arrive? No problem. Cake is delivered. You accidentally scheduled the wrong pick up time from your hotel and will miss your tour? No problem. Pickup time is rebooked. Your tour is 1 spot short to accept your family? No problem. Somehow there’s room. Everything I mentioned that I would like to do, was possible and booked without issue. Susu even answered questions that I didn’t think to ask! Thank you so so so much for one of the most memorable trips I have taken! Pura Vida!

Marco is an excellent bird guide with wonderful knowledge of the area! Very companionable- our family really enjoyed the Natural History tour with him and the Night walk. I did an early morning bird tour with him and we saw over 30 new birds!

Wonderful experience and you get jump right into it. Staff were very friendly and accommodating for anyone with fear of heights.

Booking online and paying was super easy. Instructions about meeting spot was very clear and driver of mini bus was there to greet us when we arrived. Our 2 guides, Elian and his George ( may have this name wrong), were super caring, encouraging and very good with 3 kids ( ages 9, 7 and 5) who were in the group. They ensured the 5-year old was well looked after. I faced the scariest experience of climbing that ladder but at no time did I feel I was in danger. Loved the experience !!

We had an absolutely fabulous experience with Native’s Way on our trip to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, and a huge part of that was our guide, Kevin, and our driver, Aladberto.The three-hour drive to Monteverde could have felt like a long haul, but Kevin and Aladberto made it part of the experience. Both were incredibly talkative and happy to share stories about themselves, their hometown, and the places we were passing along the way. It gave us a really nice glimpse into Costa Rican life and culture, and honestly, the drive seemed to fly by. Aladberto was also an excellent driver, and we felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time.Once we arrived, Kevin knew exactly what he was doing. Having him there to help us navigate the park and get through the process quickly was fantastic. He knew where to go and what to do to get us started with the ziplining, which meant we could spend less time figuring things out and more time enjoying the adventure.And what an adventure it was! Soaring several hundred feet above the cloud forest was absolutely unforgettable. There is something pretty incredible about flying through the canopy with the forest stretching out around you.After ziplining, we met back up with Kevin for our guided walk through the hanging bridges. Just like the ziplining, it gave us a completely different perspective of the cloud forest, this time right up in the canopy. Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and was happy to spend as much time as we wanted stopping, looking, and taking it all in. It never felt rushed.After the tours, we enjoyed a fabulous traditional Costa Rican lunch in Monteverde at Bon Appétit. And a special shout-out to them for the wood-fired Margherita pizza we sampled. Wow. 🍕 That was an unexpected highlight!The drive back was much quieter, which was perfect after a full day of adventure. We were able to sit back, relax, and rest while Aladberto handled the drive.From start to finish, this was a fantastic day. Kevin and Aladberto were wonderful representatives of Native’s Way, and their knowledge, personalities, and professionalism really helped make the experience special. We would absolutely recommend Native’s Way to anyone looking to experience the Monteverde Cloud Forest.
