Ghent Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Liedewij was a wonderful guide and the tour was super engaging, informative and just generally fascinating. Highly recommended but perhaps not for younger children or the faint of heart as the some of the stories are quite gruesome - as the title of the tour suggests!

It's a good walking tour. Takes in the grim side of Ghent The walk is flat, the stories are great. Hannah was a great guide!!!

We had a one-on-one experience with Patriek and he was amazing! He walked us to several of the bars around the Saint Bavo Cathedral and nearby area. He is extremely knowledgeable and we were overwhelmed. We just thought we knew about beer, but he introduced us to many Belgian specific variety’s. Our favorite is Gulden Draak, but I must warn you to watch out for the sour beer. Lol. Kidding. Try it.

We enjoyed our Ghent bike ride off the beaten path. That’s exactly what we did; went to areas of Ghent you did not know about or would not go to on your own. I learned a lot about Belgium and Ghent. Kristoph was funny and informative. The pace is quick and you cover a lot of ground. We got a souvenir Polaroid photo of us in front of graffiti too.

We had an exceptional bike tour of the hidden gems of Ghent with Christophe. The group was small and we saw so many things we would never had seen on a regular walking tour. Not only was Christophe and informative guide but he has a terrific sense of humor that made the tour so much fun. We were sorry to have the tour end! One of the highlights was when we visited a graffiti site and Christophe took photos of everyone. We took a 12 day visit to Europe and this tour was the highlight.

This was my second tour and it was as much fun as the first one. I was able to take my time, move at my own pace. I learned about each location - history, culture and white it was/is important to the locals. And the added nugget after solving the puzzle was always an extra-special piece of the town's identity. I'll be doing this in every city I visit.

Very good family activity! We all participated in the puzzle solving and we all had a great time as family while exploring a new city. Recommended!

This was so much fun! We took our 7 and 11 year old kids. They do recommend 8 as the kids will need to be able to read quickly as some rounds are based on who reads the answer and then presses the buzzer fastest. We assumed this was the case but our daughter loves buzzer games and still had a great time. It’s a great break for families from all the sights to get a mid day reset and have the kids “buzzing” about the activity they just did.

So much fun!!! Family friendly activity and since we were a small group, my 5 year old little girl was able to act as a mommy’s helper and learn to make chocolate!! Nu, our instructor was great and very knowledgable

The captain was great - informative and funny as he told us about Ghent and the buildings. He spoke in all 3 languages of the guests on board. The company also honoured a previous day’s tickets due to train delays. A wonderful way to begin our stay in Ghent!

Beautiful city, nice little canal tour seeing the city from the water was very nice. Inexpensive and please tip the tour Guide.

Indeed an unforgettable experience. A slightly rougher trip to the wind farm with three beauforts.Retreat calmer sea.

I’ve had an amazing day with my partner and Joris, the way he translated the beautiful nature and culture of Belgium into a story about his family really made us feel like we understood what makes Belgium an unique country. If one day we’re back, we’ll for sure do your three country tour!

We really enjoyed our experience!! We learned heaps about the Belgium chocolate and chocolate making process in general and about Jenever, its history and methods of making. The chocolate and Jenever pairing were well thought out and explained. Our host Dorien was fun and very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend!!!
