Family activity. We were taken care of by Katerina our great guide who gave us a wonderful experience. We spent a real visit on the glacier for almost 3 hours. I recommend Troll Expeditions for all activities (we also did Snorkeling Silfra with Lou our great French-speaking guide). Iceland is a beautiful country and the glaciers are spectacular to see.  We took a trip with Hidden Iceland and part of the tour included a glacier walk if you felt comfortable and had the endurance for the journey. We ventured out and tried the Vatnajökull glacier hike.  The one thing I learned about Iceland is that you definitely need to be prepared for the journey and Local Guide Vatnajökull is definitely the company to select to deliver a fabulous experience.   Hidden Iceland only partners with the best tour guides and our journey revealed just that.  We were provided with an amazing guide who first provided all the safety equipment needed for the glacier hike such as (crampons, helmet, and harness).  In addition, she provided all the instructions that were needed to have a wonderful adventure.  It was an easy hike for our group.  I appreciated the way our guide took the time to make sure everyone was safe as we continued the journey to the glacier.   It was summer in Iceland however, it wasn’t very cold however, gloves and a hat were a plus to have.   Our guide did an exceptional job of providing us with information regarding the glacier.  I knew she was an expert climber however, she managed to show my son how to create a wonderful photo that gave the illusion that he was an expert climber as well.  Once he returned home he enjoyed sharing that moment with his friends.  We truly appreciate all the wonderful memories that were created by taking this journey.  Indeed Local Guide Vatnajökull is an exceptional and responsible company that desires to show others the beauty of Iceland while still respecting Mother Nature.

Excellent tour. Hiking on a glacier is definitely a unique experience. We did the “Only the brave” tour because I wanted something a bit longer and more challenging. This company was the only one I found that had this kind of tour, combining glacier hiking and ice cave. We walked in the glacier for about four hours. The weather was really good, so the hike was quite easy: two hours walking to an ice cave and more two hours to come back. The views are breathtaking. I absolutely recommend walking on a glacier. Our guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable and passionate about his job, which makes the tour much more interesting. We were only four persons on this tour. Much better than the other short tours that go with a bigger number of people. It was a bit more expensive than the regulars tours, but absolutely worth it. If you like hiking, I absolutely recommend this tour ☺️

This was a great hike on the glacier, in a small group. There were 7 of us plus Sofia, our guide. Initially there were several groups, on a first glacier. But very quickly, we found ourselves all alone. The hike was not very difficult for those who are used to walking a little in the mountains. The landscapes were magnificent and Sofia was an attentive and interesting guide. I recommend without hesitation.

We had an absolute blast at the tour this afternoon!! Our tourguide (unfortunately I don‘t remember his name, but he had the cutest dog with him) was super nice and gave us a lot of information about the glacier. Thanks a lot for this experience!!

We absolutely loved this tour! The guides were accommodating and super nice, the one we had was also very very knowledgeable about the glacier and told us so many interesting facts about Iceland, the glacier, and geology in the area. They were very safe, the super-jeep was awesome and we saw wild reindeer on our way to the glacier! Our guide made sure everyone was safe at all times and enjoying themselves, and became our personal photographer lol which was really nice of him.Just a few tips though for the tour: absolutely bring a warm jacket and snow pants or water proof pants, hiking shoes are recommended but you'll get crampons, wear 2 pairs of socks and super warm clothes, and bring a hat and water proof gloves. It's a long tour to be freezing your butt off for not dressing properly. You will also receive a helmet and a headlamp along with the crampons. Heads up though if you have mobility issues this is not the tour for you, it's a lot of uneven walking and some crouching.

The Blue Ice Cave was one of the highlights of our Iceland trip. We were staying near Vik and were ready to go on the Katla cave tour with another company but checking recent visitor photos from Katla on Google Maps just didn't look that great. Every photo was the same arch with people standing in the the same spot with a lot of people standing around. We found Local Guides by accident and were intrigued by their very informative explainer on what a blue ice cave is and how it differs from other glacier ice caves. Looking at the recent visitor photos on Google Maps sold us on making the drive to Vatnajokull. It was very much worth it and we enjoyed our local guide Damien along with our small group of trekkers. We had plenty of time to explore the cave, take pictures and discover this amazing place. Thanks Local Guides.

We had the best of time with Eli. She was educational, friendly absolutely fantastic with my 70 y/o mother, especially as I was captivated by the glacier and not paying attention to her.I also want to thank Troll for being so communicative and helpful while we were not sure if we would make it in as we were stopped behind a stuck car for a bit this am.

Cool experience. Short walk to the ice cave so anyone can do it. It was a little crowded and I wish there was more of them to see but it's worth it!
