Churchill Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

If you are hesitating about booking the one day polar bear adventure—don’t delay! This trip is truly a trip of a lifetime. We did the one day trip in November, and we saw 8 or 9 bears, an arctic fox, a red fox and ptarmigan. Our guide and accompanying expert were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The day flew by after our 1 hour 38 minute flight from Winnipeg, and we enjoyed a lunch of soup and sandwiches as well as a mid-afternoon break for coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The tundra buggy was warm and felt spacious. On the logistics side, Ana, my contact in the months preceding the trip answered all my questions very promptly. Staff at the airport handled everything smoothly. I can’t rate this trip and Frontiers North any higher than five stars—but I would if I could!

We had so much fun throughout our trip to Churchill! We stayed at the Lazy Bear Lodge and it was relaxed, warm, welcoming, and had 5-star food. The Tundra Buggy Tours took us through the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. While the bears were tucked up in the rocks and hard to see, our eagle-eyed guide Tobi could spot them quickly and brought out the scope so we could see these beautiful creatures. Loved their antics, their playfulness. In all we saw 14 Polar Bears, and this was the off season. The Tundra is gorgeous in its full Fall colors!

Absolutely wonderful tour! Our driver Luke sis a splendid job of educating us and taking the time to ensure we got to see Polar bears as well as other wild like like Red fox. The buggy ride was comparatively smooth being an electric vehicle. Our other tour with Frontier North was a bumpy ride and not really good compared to this tour.

It was everything we could have possibly hoped for!Potentially we were really lucky to encounter the bears that we did but I am sure it was in no small part down to the experience of our guide. He was knowledgeable and had a fabulous personable way of imparting this knowledge, whilst also managing to keep all of the coach both engaged and relaxed. We saw 12 bears and cubs in total, including a mum with three cubs (extremely rare) and had a male come right up to the buggy to inspect us! Seeing the bears in their natural habitat was more beautiful than I could have imagined. The lunch provided was also good quality and they catered for dietary requirements made known in advance.Although the buggy is heated make sure you layer up because you’ll be opening the window frequently for view and photo ops.If I had planned better I would also have arranged a northern lights tour.You only need minimal time to mooch around the town because it is very small.

so amazing! we were on the buggy day tour with luke on october 16th. it was an awesome day with one of a kind sightings. such an unique experience!

The Driver Jim and the guide David Reid were fantastic. Very knowledgeable and willing to help you get great shots of active polar bears. Would definitely recommend as a once in a lifetime trip.

Such an unbelievably mind blowing adventure. The tundra buggy tour is an exceptional way to view wildlife in their natural habitat with minimal disruptions. The tour guide was very informative and I learned so much about polar bear behaviours. Saw a total of 34 bears over 2 days. Will come back again and recommend highly.

The most comfortable way to see Polar Bears. Truly professional staff, you feel welcome , safe and appreciated. It's is a full day, a fun day and you learn so much about the big white bears as you bounce across the tundra seeking the white bears.Special attention to safety, both for the bears and the humans.Seeing polar bears in the wild is an awesome experience.

Everything was excellent, from e-mail communication and The Home of The Tundra Buggy in-store attention. Outstanding our guide Neil. His efforts to locate wildlife and his management of time, his anecdotes and knowledge. It was indeed a superb day (and tour). Lucky us.

The two days spent on the Tundra Buggy with driver/guide Jim was amazing. Very professional and informative. This company cares about the environment and the effect on the national park and its wildlife. Our interpretive guide Dave, was brilliant, we learned so much, and he is passionate about the environment, we appreciated his input. The buggies are very safe, well heated, hot and cold drinks provided, plus a picnic lunch. We were out for a full day, getting close to the Polar bears and wildlife, but at the same time not stressing the animals. This was a life changing experience that I will never forget. What a fabulous well set up day. The tundra buggies are comfortable and warm with quality food provided for picnic lunch inside the buggy.We visited early Oct and were grateful to have seen 4 bears. Our driver Kevin was knowledgeable & enthusiastic about his job and the local habitat. Kevin spotted a bear almost 2km away that ended up walking right up to the buggy.
