Apia Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

This tour is one of the best we have done anywhere in the world. Janette (Tour Guide) is so enthusiastic about showing you beautiful Samoa. We only had 2 others with us and so we felt we had a personal guide. Although it is the dry season the waterfalls were still flowing but the trench, beach and cave were fantastic. Even the lunch spot, right on the beach, was perfect. Except, if ordering food take Janette’s advice and order beforehand thru her. Overall a great way to get away from Apia and see the real Samoa. Highly recommend.

A major must-do when visiting Samoa! My mum and I did it together and we had the most amazing day and love it! Our fave was visiting the trench but every spot was beautiful. Our guide Janette was so lovely and kind and taught us so much throughout the trip that we really feel like we got to see and learn so much about Samoa in just one day. Thank you so much for the beautiful day!

Severe disruption to our cruise timetable robbed us of three hours on Samoa but our tour guide did his best to ensure we saw as much of the island as possible in the limited time available. We did see waterfalls, glorious coastline and the beautiful cathedral. We left, believing we had been given an authentic taste of life on Samoa

We were in town on a cruise, so it was a short day but we managed to see everything we wanted and learned so much about the country. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and very proud of his country. We couldn't have asked for a better day.

As a solo traveller I did a tour with Junior, from start to finish the whole experience was amazing. They were fast to respond to any questions when I enquired and tailored a day to suit what I wanted to see. We went to Piula Cave Pool, Apia Market, Giant Clam Sanctuary, Sopoaga Falls and To Sua Ocean Trench and a delicious lunch stop. Junior was also very knowledgeable and informative along the drive! 10/10 highly recommend

Omg the best tour ever! Shaun was an amazing guide and so knowledgeable about Samoa, the places we visited, culture, history, everything! The tour itself was perfectly organised and we had just the right amount of time at each stop. The opportunity to visit so many fresh and salt water swimming spots plus a delicious stop for lunch was just the kind of tour around the entire island of Upolu I was craving. It’s a long and fun filled day. 💯 recommend.

Our tour guide, Afa, was amazing. He was friendly, funny and courteous. Afa willingly answered all of our questions regarding Samoa. It was quite a bit of driving, however, he kept us engaged throughout. Swimming with giant clams was a highlight. We were the only 2 people at the site snorkeling. The trench was also an amazing experience. Afa treated us to tropical 🍊 oranges which were delicious. Thank you, Afa, for a truly memorable day and experience.

We did two day trips with Matua and they were very flexible about customizing both itineraries based on our arrival and departure times to/from the island. The activities were interesting and both guides were excellent, offering us an abundance of information about Samoa and answering all of our many questions. I highly recommend this company.

Had so much fun! Beach was definitely the highlight. Do bring a towel and dry clothes with you. A full day of great experiences and the lunch was equally enjoyable. Highly recommended.
