Top Cabarete Private Sightseeing Tours

Our tour guide was very personable and was fantastic in assisting with my 90 year old mother. We visited all the places we wanted to see and he gave us all a history lesson.

Frank and his son were awesome tour guides. Some how we booked the wrong day and they still made it work for us. They let us decide where we wanted to go. Went to pink street, umbrella street which you better get some empanadas there omg so good. Went to the cathedral, Amber mining place and cigar factory. I hope Frank and his son will be out drivers next time we are here.

The driver was great he was knowledgeable, and took care of us also very helpful with getting other tours set up, these guys are top notch and know how to take care of their customers

I would recommend this experience to anyone and everyone (with average or better fitness levels). Communication was clear and reassuring. I had questions after booking and used the messaging system through Cool Destinations. The company replied within minutes. The night before, we were also texted instructions for the next day. We got off the cruise ship and walked exactly where he told us to meet him (about a 10 min. brisk walk - not a lot of shade). We met our guide and driver and were off in a private, clean van. We were given tons of information about the area on the way to the falls and what to expect once we arrived. It was all very reassuring as I was a little stressed about the unknown. We were able to leave everything in the van which was kept locked and watched by the driver. We were added to another group - given helmets, life jackets, and a bottle of water and we were off. The hike had a lot of stairs and uneven ground. We wore harder soled water shoes and still could feel all the pebbles and rocks, but once we got to the water they were nice because they had drainage holes. They do stop and provide a couple breaks along the way. I'd like to think I'm in pretty good shape, but my cardio is lacking and that was very evident on this hike. But I'd still 100% recommend it. Once you get to the water, it is so refreshing and unlike anything I've ever had the opportunity to do. We only got to slide/jump into 7 falls. Most of them you have to slide into, but for the last 2 you have the option to jump (it's super high) or slide, or go down a ladder. I wear glasses (I'm pretty lind without them), so i wore them for the hike, but once I started sliding and jumping, iur guide said I had to give him my glasses for safety. He stored them in a water safe bag along with peoples' phones/watches, etc. We didn't get the picture package, but another group did and they stopped for a lot of pictures and videos at each stage. Afterwards lunch was included and it's right at the gate of the falls - a little buffet. Food was got and good and there was a good variety. Afterwards we went to a little place to learn about all the things they grow, how they make coffee and chocolate from plant to product. We saw a cigar making demonstration and tasted the manajuana drink. From there we were taken right back to where we were picked up and made the 10 min walk back to the ship (with way more shade). This tour was highly organized, informative, so much fun, and a great mini introduction to Puerto Plata. I will 100% book with this company again.

It was a really nice experience. When we arrived, we were immediately offered something to drink. Afterwards, we were able to see how the tobacco leaves are dried. The highlight was that we were allowed to roll our own cigar and could also try one. In the end, we were also able to buy cigars at very fair prices.Highly recommended, even for non-smokers.

I am agreeing with my family that this was a great tour and we left satisfied. It has kind of raised my expectations for tours. The guide, Ismael was fantastic. He has a lot of life experience, both in the Dominican Republic and abroad. He narrated the trip from start to finish, and was patient with some of our more troublesome member of the little group that we came with. He left us with a good understanding of what it might be like to live in the Dominican Republic, and I can see why so many Americans have moved there. We went to various locations including the relaxing and at the same time exciting Monkey Experience, the chocolate shop, which had some great chocolate bars made fresh there and for sale in a large store section. We also had a chance to eat some food with some neighborhood Dominicans at this quaint restaurant. The food was really good and fresh. I can only shake my head thinking about how good and different it was from the quick meals I normally scarf down as I rush from one place to another in the USA in my overscheduled life. For drinkers, we had a great visit to the local rum maker. It had one heck of a history and I did not know how prolific the Dominican Republic is with the production of their may types of rum. We went to other places as well, and like others in my tour, I felt a spirit of freedom being kicked back in Ismael's nice and comfortable bus. I did a lot of people-watching, trying to take it all in. We felt safe and in good hands with Ismael. Others on the bus had visited the DR before, but they did not see the side of the DR that the tour gave us, and the price was reasonable!

First, let me write what I was looking for. I wanted to see a lot of the local area, get an idea of how day-to-day life is there, and learn about the Dominican Republic. This tour gave me everything I was looking for and then some!Above all, I felt safe the entire time. We were driven around the Puerto Plata area and Ismael was an exceptional tour guide. He showed us city areas, rural areas, and areas in between. He took us to a local restaurant to dine with some of the local residents. There were around twelve of us and we all agreed that the food was very good and had variety. The people were kind, and it seemed to be a well-frequented restaurant. I wish I could have that kind of food back home. The countryside was picturesque, with all kinds of trees, many with fruits. I loved seeing the many homes and imagining myself living the seemingly simpler way of life. The Monkey Experience was located out there and it was fun and educational as well. We learned how important the Cacao was to their culture and economy. But the little monkeys and the guides there, were the stars of the show.We also spent time sightseeing and shopping in the city area. We visited several culturally significant locations, including a rum factory, candy maker and store, and a place the created jewelry made from precious stones that were is native to the island. All the while our driver, Ismael narrated every location. Ismael had a deep history of the island and was an excellently clear and thoughtful speaker. He enhanced our experience greatly by giving context to the many locations. He was able to answer all of our questions. He went to great lengths to make sure we were always accounted for and happy. The tour bus seemed pretty new and was clean and well-maintained. The seats were very comfortable and the bus had a great ride. This is a very professional operation and definitely one to consider if you are visiting the area. I will never forget this glimpse of life outside the rat race that I live, and I won’t forget the high level of service the tour provided, hence the reason I am typing this. I want to give this tour the outstanding credit it is due. We experienced so much in the short few hours of shore time that we had off the ship. Thank you, Ismael Tours!

Driver was excellent and did a great job. Wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend..........

This was a great experience. We ate so much food and it was very local places. We ended up with just our group, so he made sure to accommodate our tastes. Highly recommended!

This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip! My husband and I booked this as a private tour, and having the experience tailored just for the two of us made it even more memorable.Joseph was absolutely fantastic, friendly, insightful, knowledgeable, and so much fun to spend the day with. He shared fascinating history, local culture, and hidden gems that we never would have found on our own. We ate until our hearts were full, experienced incredible local flavors, and were able to see all of the major sights along the way. What really set Joseph apart was that he never made us feel rushed. He even offered to stop so we could ride an ATV if we wanted to add that adventure to our day. His goal was clearly to make sure we had the best possible experience, and he went above and beyond to do just that.If you're considering this tour, don't hesitate. Joseph is an exceptional guide, and this private experience was worth every penny. Highly recommend—BOOK THIS TOUR NOW!

Great guide. Never left our side. Amazing experience. Loved every minute.

Reliable, professional and responsive. Very fair pricing.

Jose was a great tour guide. I highly recommend this company and the monkey tour. This was my favorite.

Our host was amazing we had a great time. We were picked up from our hotel and went to 2 places. Great night

Tony was great helpful professional it was a great experience me and my husband had a lot of fun, Definitely a go to Tony tours we also went to see the monkeys last minute and Tony personally took us there thank you so much.

Couldn’t asked for a better guide than Louis Jose. He took us around to all the sights and more. The cable car was closed so he took us to buy tickets for the bus that takes you up the mountain and even took my elderly parents back to the cruise ship who didn’t want to wait that long. He found us a local restaurant to pass the time and got us back to our ship before they left port. Fantastic!
