Anne did a wonderful job of giving us a tour that was not the standard Derry tour, and that was what we were looking for.

Three generations of our family (descended from 1718 emigrants from Derry, Northern Ireland to Boston) thoroughly enjoyed a two-hour personalized walking tour of the Wall of Derry with David Douglas of Derrie Danders. David (raised in and resident of Derry himself) maintained a leisurely place, taking a 74 year old grandmother into consideration while keeping his narration lively and engaging for the adult daughter and 9 year old granddaughter of the group. David's vast knowledge (and love) of Derry history was evident. He personally knew several docents at key sites which provided what seemed like unusual access to specific areas and precious, original books. This walking tour, taken September 12, was the high point of a week spent in Dublin, Belfast, Ballintoy and Omagh. We highly, and without reservation, encourage you to appreciate Derry to the full with Derrie Danders. You're sure to appreciate this historic city on the banks of the beautiful Foyle River walking it and seeing it through David’s eyes!The photo is of Eloise holding The Promise Chalice of 1613. It was sent by The Honourable Irish Society in London to the newly established plantation town of Londonderry. This chalice acted as a formal token of intent-a binding covenant-guaranteeing that the society would fund and build a proper cathedral for the city. The promise was fulfilled twenty years later in 1633, with the completion of St Columb’s Cathedral, where the chalice is kept. Having been transplanted from Yorkshire, England to Ulster-Eloise’s many great, great grandfather and his family would have been living nearby for both of these occasions as well as The 1689 Siege of Londonderry. The cup features the City of London's coat of arms and an inscription that reads: "To the Church of God in the City of Derry, the gift of the Londoners." Remarkably, it has remained in ritual use for Holy Communion services for over four centuries.On a practical note: We felt this walking tour was very reasonably priced considering the length of the tour, the quality of David's presentation, his personal interaction with us and how well its content related to our family's history in Ulster.

I booked this tour with Anne very last minute and it turned out to be just me and her. It was a lovely morning. Anne is a very knowledgeable and engaging guide with great stories. I'm very familiar with Derry but I learned an awful lot more. Anne is doing a very important role in educating us about the history of women in Derry and all in a very entertaining and enjoyable way. We were lucky enough to have Henry as our guide in March 2026, and the rainy day was instantly brightened by his beaming smile when he picked us up at our accommodation. Henry gave us a wonderful day filled with wit, charm, and knowledge, and we enjoyed every moment. We also had plenty of time to ourselves at the various stops; we can highly recommend this tour in general, and Henry as a guide in particular.

We are a group of four friends - from Cork and London. David was very personable and spoke with huge knowledge of the city and its history, as we walked around its historic walls. His talk covered the tragic period of the Troubles and he dealt with this with great insight and balance. This of course is just a small part of a very rich history, and he helped to leave us wanting to know more. Thanks David for a great afternoon.

This was an insightful museum that helped us better understand the process towards the Good Friday Accords. It has informative displays as well as videos of people connected to the events. These really helped to get a better understanding of what it was like to live through this time. There is a free parking lot at the museum.I also want to note that the staff was absolutely lovely and went above and beyond for us. As the on-site restaurant was closed (unexpectedly to us), a woman behind the desk suggested a local cafe that was delicious. Even more than that, she offered to drive us to the restaurant due to the heavy rains at the time. It was truly an incredible kindness that we won't forget.

I learned a lot in a short amount of time. This tour only took us about 1 hour. It gave me a better foundation than I had.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our tour. Henry was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and an exceptional story teller. Everything was well paced and seamless from start to finish. Many great tours available but Donegal was amazing. Highly recommend!

An excellent museum which makes the history of the troubles and peacemaking very accessible. Takes a few hours to get around and read/watch everything but well worth it! Fantastic friendly staff and a lovely cafe next door.

David was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely easy to understand. He went through extensive history information and an explanation of both the sides of the story of the troubles. It was a very easy walking tour with lots of great things to see. All the people in our group would strongly recommend David!!!!

Great way to understand and appreciate the history and struggles of the city. Good way to see a lot of the city

It has been a couple of weeks since our all day tour "Sliabh Liag Cliffs and Glencolmcille" with Henry. We have reflected a lot and decided this was one of our BEST memories of our two week trip to this amazing country. Henry was so incredibly kind, accommodating and knowledgable about each site we visited. It felt like the perfect balance of time speaking with him, and time he allotted for my husband and I to explore locations alone. I think the best part though was just chatting with him about every day life in Ireland. We found so many similarities to our own life/experiences. The cost was more than reasonable for an 8 hour, totally customized tour. His car couldn't have been more comfortable and he frequently checked in to make sure we had what we needed. He also provided recommendations (which we absolutely took) for other things to see/experience for the rest of our trip. I am confident Henry could provide an amazing experience for anyone. We hope to make it back to Ireland one day and when we do, we will book another experience with Donegal Tour Guide. Thank you so much for a wonderful day, Henry!

My husband and I spent two fabulous days on private tours with Henry around Donegal, Sliabh Liag, the Gaeltecht area and Glenveagh National Park. Henry is an absolutely delightful person to spend with! We were, first of all, very glad NOT to be driving the super narrow roads and just enjoyed the spectacular scenery. Driving with Henry was like having our own personal seminar about Irish history of the area and country as well as funny and fascinating stories about Henry's life in Ireland and local lore. He was flexible, considerate, personable and very, very good at his job!! We highly recommend Henry for tours anywhere in Ireland and have already planned our next visit with Henry as our guide.
