Chengdu Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Fabulous tour works highly recommend. Airis our guide was fantastic and went out of her way to make sure we had a wonderful time. The tuk tuk drivers were excellent and very skilled in navigating the Chengdu traffic. Food was just delicious.

Maggie was excellent from the time she picked us up at the train station to the moment she dropped us off. We had a great time with her as our guide on our 2 night stay in Chengdu. She was always on time, always friendly and polite and spoke good English. We visited Leshan Giant Buddha and the Giant pandas. She gave us information about Chengdu and the sights but wasn’t boring. The hotel that was arranged was great and the food she recommended was very good. We travelled with our young daughter and she was very good with her too! A private tour with Maggie is an excellent way to see Chengdu and Leshan.

We had a wonderful day in Chengdu. It began with a visit to the Giant Panda Research Station. Thanks to our guide, Claire, who knows the best route to take at the station and the timing and locations for spotting the pandas, we saw many pandas eating bamboo, climbing trees and playing. She also showed us the 76 day old adorable red panda babies in their nursery. This was followed by a stroll through the Broad and Narrow alleys, where tradition and culture create an intriguing mix in this historical section of the city. Then Claire introduced us to one of the city's most famous cuisines - hot pot - in a nearby restaurant, showing us how to enjoy this special dish. It was an outstanding meal. After lunch we visited the People's Park, also know locally as Chengdu's living room. It's a place where people meet to drink tea, play games, dance and even post personal notices at Matchmaker's Corner. We soaked up the atmosphere at one of the many tea houses in the park. Thanks to a great itinerary and our fantastic guide, Claire, we had a truly memorable day.

We had the pleasure of going to the Panda Base/Giant Base with our driver Mr Zhou and our guide Jacky. Jacky did an excellent job of making sure we were in the right place at the right time to capture the best photos at both sights. It is not easy to see both of these major tourist attractions in one day, but U2Panda made it possible for us and let us spend as much time at either attraction as we’d like. If navigating large crowds and getting great pictures/videos in extremely crowded tourist attractions is a priority to you, U2Panda is the way to go! I cannot recommend their services enough.

We had a fabulous day visiting the Giant Panda Center, Sichuan style lunch, visit Wuhou Temple, and strolling through some ancient alleys near the Temple. Tour guide Megan was fantastic - friendly, courteous, professional, and fun to converse with casually. Definitely recommend the tour. Five Stars!

This was a very good, and filling, food tour. We had 5 different stops and traveled by Tuktuk. The tuktuks were a little cramped with 4 per vehicle but got us around effectively.Plenty of high quality food with the last stop being plum wine in a bar. We had 10 participants on our tour. Everyone was very friendly. Our guide, Fiona, spoke very good English and did a great job of explaining the food plus local culture. She was very energetic and personable.Highly recommended.

We first went to a panda base a fair distance from the city, which was lovely - lush, beautiful surroundings and lots of opportunities to watch pandas. We went early which meant the animals were active (not too hot yet) and there weren’t very many other people.We continued to another place for the red panda keeper experience, which was amazing. It’s 900 cny on top of the booking price, so not cheap but completely worth it. There were more red pandas than people, and you get to watch them up really close and feed them. You can’t touch them, but they can touch you - I’m delighted to say my lap got climbed over. There are also raccoons, which you can pet while feeding.Jay spoke by far the best English out of everyone I’ve met while travelling in China for the last month and arranged everything very smoothly, in addition to having a very comfortable car. I met some other guests at the red panda base who missed out on the feeding because they hadn’t known to book it, so I was very glad that Jay had made sure the experience included all the highlights. Would 100% book with him again.

We booked the Mapo Tofu Cooking Class pretty spontaneously and we are so happy that we did. Everything was organised very well. Even though it rained super heavy when we arrived it was no problem. Our guide Lance waited for us at the metro station and even ordered a taxi so we get to the market dry. First we visited a local market that is not one of the typical tourist attractions. Our guide was really knowledgable and helped us buying local spices. Before the class we were offered some tea and small snacks and then the class started. It was a lot of fun. We not only learned about the history of Mapo Tofu but about Tofu making in general. We even used a traditional press to make our own soy milk and learned everything from scratch. In the end we actually cooked our own Mapo Tofu and eat it with some other dishes together with Lance. We also had the time to share some stories and learn more about Chengdu. Thanks again to the whole team and especially our guide Lance who made this a great afternoon. We will definietly try and make Mapo Tofu at home.

We had a wonderful experience visiting the panda reserve. Our guide, Perry, was absolutely fantastic. He had an incredible amount of knowledge about pandas and shared many interesting facts and stories throughout the tour. His English was excellent, and he explained everything clearly and in a very engaging way.Perry was also very friendly, professional, and passionate about his work, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We learned a lot and had a truly memorable time. We highly recommend this tour, and especially Perry as a guide. Thank you for such a fantastic experience!

It’s a great experience to visit the Panda Center. Kids and adults love it. We were lucky to have Cindy as our guide. She knows the best places and how to avoid the crowds. And she was exceptionally kind with us and the kids.

Perry is an excellent guide. He is very knowledgeable and speaks great English. It was very hot on the day of our tour and he is very patient.

We had this experience with Silvia as our guide. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made the whole trip much more enjoyable and interesting than it would have been otherwise. Also, her availability to suggest local landmarks can't be fully appreciated until you experience her. She directed us for instance to the local Tea Market and Embroidery museum & helped us to acquire beautiful local manufacture. If you book this, ask for her. Five stars aren't enough, she deserves twice as many.

Stunning scenery - I love snow covered mountain views (I was fortunate that it was a sunny winter;s day). Add in the birthplace of Taoism and the associated temples - altogether making a great start to the day (I could have spent all day there). Add to that the interesting history and engineering of the irrigation system. My guide was very friendly and added to the day. A great day out.

Claire is very knowledgeable about pandas and always proposes the best angle to take your photos. She is very enthusiastic about guiding and definitely fun to be with. We went for a hot pot with her and that turned out to be the best meal so far on this tour. Claire is kind and generous and such a lovely person.
