Sorry this review is being posted so late! Family of 4 did this tour in late June. Jerneja was a wonderful host - we mixed up our tour date due to OUR mistake, and she was still able to graciously accommodate us. We learned so much about truffles and the food and drinks were delicious. It was a terrific insight into the hospitality of the Istrian people.

Almost missed this tour and booked last minute on my port day, and was absolutely worth it. Of all the places on my 7-day cruise trip, this was best and well explained by Yannis.

A Very fun and educational experience learning about truffle hunting and participating in truffle hunting. It was followed by a delicious meal of truffles with pasta in our guide’s backyard. We got to help cook which was also very fun! A truly wonderful experience! The dog was precious and friendly too and a highlight of the trip!

What a wonderful experience. I have been to many caves in the US. None of them offers the same scenery and experience as this one with a deep dropoff into a sharp canyon with a roaring river beneath ALL within a cave. WOW!! While the beauty of this cave is the main attraction of this tour, I like to give some heads-ups on the stair climbing required towards the end of the tour. It is not to be underestimated. It requires a lot of physical strength if you are not in good shape physically.Because of the descending path into the cave in the first 50% of the tour, you will have to climb back out all of it and probably in the last 10% of the tour, making it a much steeper climb out. The climb out can be broken into 3 sections.(1) from river level (~170 meters or ~500 feet below ground surface) to ground surface level all within a relatively short distance. This section involves continuous stairs and is very physically demanding. The hard part about this section is that it is hard to stop to rest for a few seconds before continuing climbing because the tour guide climbs fast and everyone has to keep pace with him. Furthermore, the path is narrow, making stop almost impossible as people behind continue to climb up. If you stop to rest, you are blocking their path. Upon reaching this ground surface, the guided portion of the tour ends.(2) from ground surface to where the funicular car is via return path option 1, it involves another continuous and strenuous stairs climbing probably just as much as the climbing in section 1. This was a surprise to me as I thought reaching the ground surface means almost reaching the end of climbing. I would estimate another 100-150 meters (or 300–450 feet) of climbing in a relatively short distance, making the climb quite steep and exhausting.(3) upon reaching the top of the funicular car, there is further climbing back to the ticket office level but at a more gradual pace with ascending path and stairs. I estimate the height climbed in the last section is probably 1/3 of that in section 1 or 2.Upon returning back to the ticket office, I was totally exhausted. So be aware of the not-so-easy climb out if you are not in good shape physically (like me). Meanwhile, enjoy while inside the cave. I keep telling myself that beauty of the cave is worth of effort to climb out in order for me to forget about the climb out experience. Haha!!

It was a small group of 6 people plus the driver in a van traveling for 30 to 40 minutes. The actual tour had a dedicated knowledgeable guide at the caves. The caves are impressive to view as is the path carved into the side of the caverns to view the caverns. It was a fun and interesting experience. It isn't a tour for those who are claustrophobic or can't handle heights. Also there are many steps so would not be recommended for those who have difficulty walking.

Amazing tour guide. Very pleasant person with a lot of knowledge! He showed us best places of this beautiful courntry. Cave was spectacular, and very close to the castle. We loved our tour.

The castle and the caves were amazing, you can't put into words the beauty of this area. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable of the are and made the trip fun.

Katja (Spelling) was wonderful. Funny and thoroughly enjoyed my trip. The wine testing in a local home/wine producer was amazing. Great personal touch. Loved the small group we were with. Only 7 of us.

Knowledgeable and extremely accommodating tour guides and hosts gave us a wide variety of sites and flavors from a view of the Alps over Lake Bled to a visit to the capital city for a wine tasting and fun day at the city center market which was great for shopping and fantastic local foods. The tour was slightly modified due to a change in guide availability and they went out of their way to make it more than we’d originally expected. The traditional crème pastry cake at lake Bled was delicious.

Not only was our trip amazing, but our guide, Petra was the best!. She had such a wonderful way of sharing the ways of family in Slovenia and went out of her way to ensure our experience was a great one!

We booked this tour as a shore excursion from Koper. It was perfect for us as we were traveling with my 70 year old in laws. We were picked up by Bojan from the port and he made the tour as easy as possible for us since they could not do excessive walks. Tasting of wine and truffles was a nice experience. Bojan even stopped us for some shopping going the extra mile. Highly recommended.

I am really glad we booked with Koper Tours. The transport was very comfortable and our guide friendly and knowledgeable. Visiting the caves first followed by lunch (paid separately) and then the Stud Farm we had a really great day lasting far longer than the advertised duration (because we we having a great time!) Our guide found a fantastic restaurant for lunch. Delicious food and wine at a very reasonable price. I'd definitely book with them again.

This was great tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and fascinating, we learned so much about the history of Slovenia and the local food and wine. The highlight was definitely the chapel at Hrastovlje. Such a wonderful chapel and the frescos are beautiful. Despite the poor weather, we had a really full and interesting day, learning so much about Slovenia. Koper Tours did us proud.

Absolutely a beautiful experience both the Castle and the cave. Bring a sweater for the cave and lots of walking. Norman was great guide. Tour well organized and the bus was cool and comfortable! Do not miss is in Koper!
