Top Jamaica Cooking Classes

My daughter and I traveled to Jamaica for the first time from Californian. We both love to cook and decided to do the cooking class in the countryside with Irie tour and travel. I was a bit apprehensive when a guy pulled up in front of our resort we were staying at to pick us up to take us to the cooking class, but that all ended quickly. Tony, as many of the previous reviewers have mentioned, was hands down the best roof guide I Jane ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is informative about the Island, educating us along the drive, the history, people, current state of the country. He is super funny and resigning. He taught us a few words in Patwah. He is such a sweetheart 🤗 We can’t wait until our next visit already, where I will be bringing family for the first time to meet Tony, Michael, Danny and our amazing cook, Ms. Janetta! We miss you all! Yah man! ✌🏾🇯🇲🇺🇸

A delightful outing in the hills despite the farm being virtually wiped out by the hurricane. The kitchen has been rebuilt and it is interesting to see the ongoing projects. Jeanette, the chef, is gregarious and informative. She takes you through each step joyfully explaining the process. I learned several good tips. Anthony, our driver, was a fount of information on the drive through MoBay and the countryside. Daniel kept mostly in the background performing various tasks but was friendly and good-natured when engaged. The food—curried chicken, rice and peas and steamed vegetables, came out delicious and be prepared to take away several meals' worth of leftovers. Seeing the countryside is a nice bonus.

My husband and I were looking for a unique experience close to the Falmouth Port and Nick did not disappoint. Although we were an hour early (ship time instead of island time) Nick accomodated us. I cannot overstate the richness of the history lesson we received about the history of chocolate in Jamaica and thFalmouth Chocolate Factory. Njck is a fantastic story teller and very passionate about cultural contributions. Chocolate making is an art, and an artist Nick is. We tasted chocolate, and made our own bars with add-ons such as dried mango and almonds. We had a window view of the factory in progress.The factory is inside the port gates, so cruisers can easily access it. The walk is very short from the ship. There are stairs and an elevator to access the second level of the air-conditioned building.We picked up our chocolate a couple hours later from Nick's cart at the street level. There, he was educating other customers. We purchased more chocolate and picked up our specialty bars.Please consider purchasing experiences that support local vendors, businesses, and commerce. The Falmouth Chocolate Factory is definitely a jewel of the port.

A group of us did an amazing tasting experience where we learnt about the history of cacao in Jamaica from the earliest indigenous Taino people to its role in the present day. Our hosts Nick and Marta taught us the dynamics of chocolate making from bean to bar and we got to sample single origin chocolates from cocoa estates around the island. We also sampled beverages made from chocolate including a traditional tea and a modern cocktail. The experience was an oral and gustatory delight! A must do if you are a chocolate lover.

From the moment Anthony picked us up and explained that we’d need to switch vehicles to head off-road, I knew we were in for something special. The drive into the countryside set the tone for an unforgettable day at Irie Village and Farm. The farm itself is charming, peaceful, and immediately connects you to nature.The cooking experience was the highlight. We didn’t just watch—we cooked yardman style! From learning how to clean meat and vegetables the traditional way, to cooking over an outdoor wood stove, every step felt authentic. We prepared brown stew chicken, steamed vegetables, rice and peas with fresh coconut milk we blended ourselves, and a refreshing watermelon ginger drink.This isn’t a touristy activity—it’s an immersion into Jamaican culture. If you want to experience Jamaica from a local perspective, with hands-on learning and genuine hospitality, this is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!

Personal cooking class in the countryside of Jamaica - it was the greatest experience!! We’re def returning!!! The business owner, and chef was the most pleasant people. They walked us through their property and showed us all of the fruits + veggies that they harvest. Some used for the meals they offer, too! It was absolutely amazing, and we’ll be returning soon, for sure.

What an awesome journey through Jamaicas cocoa history. Nick brings the rich history of chocolate in this region to light in a very informative and engaging way. Everyone knows about coffe from Jamaica but everyone should really know about cocoa too and with Nicks family history steeped in cocoa farming and his BBC journalistic background there is noone better to tell this story. The best part is you get to taste the amazing chocolate too!

It was a great experience. Wear sneakers and bring bug spray. Also plan to pay for a cab separately from Negril. It’s not included with the cost of the excursion.

The cooking experience was good. Janet was very sweet and knowledgeable about everything. You get to do things hands on, but they also help you!!

I had the best time ever at @irievillageandfarm — it was truly an unforgettable experience! If you’re planning a trip to Jamaica, this is an absolute must. You won’t regret it!The farm is incredibly beautiful and peaceful, tucked high up in the mountains. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so warm and welcoming. The chef was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious — real, authentic Jamaican flavor.As a solo traveler, I loved that the cooking class turned out to be one-on-one. It made the experience feel so personal. Janet was an incredible teacher and walked me through every step of making oxtail and rice & peas from scratch — now I feel confident making it on my own!The farm tour was also a highlight. I got to explore the grounds and even go inside the chicken coop, which was so much fun. The entire vibe was peaceful, educational, and full of good energy.This was a 10/10 experience — I’ll definitely be back!

This was a great experience from beginning to the end. Tony was really nice. The food was amazing, everything was fresh and authentic. I will be booking this excursion again. 🥰🥰 I recommend everyone do this while in Jamaica you won’t be disappointed.

This was honestly one of the best experiences we had in Jamaica. From the moment we were picked up to the scenic ride up the mountain, everything was smooth and well-organized. The drive was beautiful, and the class itself was super informative. Janet showed us how to cook real Jamaican brown stew chicken and rice & peas — she was so sweet and made it fun the whole way through. The food came out amazing, and the fresh watermelon juice we made from scratch was sooo good.After the class, Anthony took us bamboo rafting, which was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. It was the perfect way to end the day. If you’re looking for something authentic, fun, and different to do, this is it!

Our trip was amazing from pickup to drop off. The experience lasted around 6 hours. It included hands on meal preparation and a tour of the farm. The chef was amazing and made sure all cooking levels got a chance to experience and learn the culture. This experience was a 10/10 and we will definitely come back.
