Take a walk from the Stamp Act of 1765 through President Washington’s Inauguration in 1789. You’ll experience the spellbinding story of the unbelievable events leading up to the American Revolution. You’ll walk on the same colonial streets where it all happened.
* Listen to stories about real people like John Holt the “Liberty Printer” and Alexander McDougall, leader of the Sons of Liberty.
* Stand where George Washington had the Declaration of Independence read and where he escaped the British during the Battle of NY
* Take a walk through St. Paul’s Chapel, the town’s “Country Church” built in 1766 and still intact today. We’ll also visit some of the graves in the graveyard.

You'll see original documents and hear about events in the words of people who lived them.

Hosted by Karen Q, historian, author and regular on Travel Channel's Mysteries at the Museum

NOTE: Karen Q will appear in period costume on Saturdays through the end of September as her living history character "Mrs. Q'!

Mrs. Q did a fantastic job of bringing the past to life through the stories she told. Knowing how events unfolded more than two hundred years ago helps to explain how New York has become what it is today, especially around the area that was previously New Amsterdam.

Wife and I were in town for her 50th. I’m a big history buff and esp love the American Revolution times, so I was eagerly awaiting this tour.My expectations were exceeded by Karen on this tour! We had a great time waking the streets of colonial NYC and hearing the stories of the war in the area. Karen should be a history teacher!I esp loved the retelling of the Battle of Brooklyn and how Washington was able to get his entire army out of death’s door from the British by crossing the East River overnight.Thank you Karen for a fantastic tour. I highly recommend this tour, esp if you want to hear and see the significant tie-Ins to NYC and the war.

Karen totally made history come alive for me in lower Manhattan using the actual city as a living reminder of the past. Her stories (not dull facts) made present Manhattan dissolve to reveal the Revolutuonary era. She knows her stuff and how to engage the listener. The area came alive with new insights. History can be exciting when presented by a true lover of history like Karen. Take this tower to SEE history.

As a lifelong New Yorker, it's sometimes hard to find new things to love about NYC - esp. in the cold of winter! But, I've recently been on a kick of learning more about Revolutionary War history, and Karen's tour is a well-researched, engaging, though-provoking journey through NYC's fascinating history during the Revolution. You have to use your imagination a bit to try to picture lower Manhattan the way it looked 240 years ago, but Karen brings with her a bunch of helpful maps, drawings and reprints of old broadsides and pamphlets which really bring the period alive. Moreover, Karen is incredibly knowledgeable, able to answer just about any question about the period and explain exactly what New York was like during those turbulent years. For anyone looking to experience the rich history of New York - even those who've lived here their whole lives - this is highly recommended!

Karen is a font of all knowledge of things relating to the events in New York before and during the Revolutionary War and of its citizens. The tour and her narrative put the events which led up to the war into perspective, and its is facscinating to put boots on the ground and see where these events took place. She connects the dots between the dusty details we learned in American history classes to real people and real places. I had worked in lower Manhatttan for many years and learned a great many things that were new to me. The best waking tour I have ever taken.

We visited 14 states over a month's time, including NYC, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Nashville, the fall colors in New England, and a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. This tour, led by the incredible Karen Q of Patriot Tours, was our favorite tour of the entire trip. For this history junkie, it was the perfect tour! Karen was very well-informed, telling terrific stories to go along with each of the stops we made. My mother wears hearing aids and has difficulty hearing in noisy places, and Karen was very accomodating, making sure Mom was close by to hear every story told.If you're interested in American history at all, this is the perfect way to get your history fix. WELL WORTH the time!

Having just read Atkinson’s first of three books on the Revolutionary War, this tour was the perfect way to bring his words to life. Our tour guide did a superb job of taking our group back to Revolutionary War times. She is a master story teller supplementing her talk with pictures, maps and minute details never discussed in high school or college American history classes. Although it’s a walking tour, it is not that strenuous and you will have one break. I highly recommend this tour.
