Beautiful day out on the Bayou. Derek and Captain John were funny, informative tour guides. We saw gators (including a 13 footer), snakes, turtles, limpkins and the cutie of the swamp, George. Highly recommend for anyone spending a few days in New Orleans looking for a nice nature break.

This was a fantastic tour, lots of amazing things to see. The swamp is beautiful, and every employee was super helpful and friendly. I would definitely do this tour again if I ever come back to New Orleans. Our bus driver Rene was a great narrator for the ride to the swamp, and I learned a lot about New Orleans and the surrounding areas. He kept us well informed on what to expect when we got there. Our captain through the swamp was Wil, and did his very best to show us every animal he could. Though the gators were chilly and uncooperative, he still managed to find us a couple. It was a great tour and well worth the money.

Had sooo much fun with this tour! Our tour guide, Dywanna, went above and beyond to make the drive there and back super fun and interesting!! She is so sweet and funny, she had our group laughing the whole ride. The actual gator tour itself was also amazing! So cool to see the wildlife and learn about the swamps. There are a lot of tours to choose from in Louisiana, but I HIGHLY recommend this one!

Must do activity when you visit NOLA . Cajan Encounter Tour company picked up and dropped off close to my hotel , they gave clear instructions about the pickup location and time . Tour price was very reasonable and the boat operator was very knowledgeable about the Louisiana Swamps .

Family of 6 (“kids” aged 18-23) had a blast. We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and booked the two hour tour on-line. We met out bus without any difficulties and Derek our driver was exceptional. Check in was a breeze and we were on our way rather quickly. The operation ran smoothly and efficiently. Our Captain, was John Katz. His Cajun charm, knowledge, and sense of humor made for an enjoyable time. I would recommend this adventure. For parents of young children be advised that there are times during the 2 hours when the tour simply soaks in the beauty of the bayou and there are no guarantees of animal sightings. (We were thoroughly amazed when Captain Katz called a raccoon to the boat however. Watching him feed alligators was pretty cool too.) Dress/prepare for the elements.

Looking for something to do with our older teens (15, 17 and 19) in NOLA. The swamp tour fit the bill! We saw several gators, nutria, raccoons, egret and heron--and that was on December 22nd! And out guide, Eddie, was laid back and funny. Excellent day trip.

If you want an interesting and informative tour of the Honey Island Swamp, sign up for this one. Our guide was Luka, and not only did he share his extensive knowledge of the bayou but he also punctuated his comments with some interesting philosophical asides, which led me to dub him the Buddha of the Bayou. The boat ride took the tour group throughout the bayou, including a little village whose inhabitants fish and work the waters and a vertical lift bridge built in 1933. Luka answered all questions, end even shared a recipe for blackened redfish. The bayou critters were abundant. We saw gators, a white egret, a blue heron, and several other birds. You'll learn a lot and have fun. Ask for Luka - he's the best. And a special shout-out to Bam-Bam, our bus driver, who regaled us with New Orleans history and lore to and from the swamp.

It's about an hour's drive from the French Quarter - the driver who took us was very entertaining and informative. He showed and told us the devastation that Katrina had left behind and lots of other interesting stuff. When we arrived at Honey Swamp, everything was well organised with a shaded waiting area. We were lead to our boat by our captain, Everett, and he made sure that we had a great experience. He showed us the various wildlife and birds - we were lucky to see several smallish alligators. He told us so many interesting facts about the swamp habitat and was able to answer any questions we had. On top of this he was funny and entertaining. There was a shop with lots of souvenirs available. One tip - there are only snacks available, so if you want to take a sandwich, take one with you - we saw that other people had done this. We left New Orleans at 10.15 and returned at about 3.30 and the boat trip itself was nearly two hours. I would thoroughly recommend this trip!
