We really enjoyed our tour of Destrehan plantation. Destrehan is not as grand as Oak Alley but the tour was informative and we liked exploring the other buildings on the property. Our driver picked us up right on time and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a great day. I highly recommend this tour!

The guide, Clint was excellent, shared so much interesting history!! The problem was, there was not enough time to enjoy the other historical buildings and gift shop!!!! Way too rushed…add more time!!

We really enjoyed the whole visit to this plantation. Our guide there was Frank and he did a good job giving us all the history there and showing us around. I can not even believe the amount of history we learned about there and I look forward to learning more. Our bus driver from the tour company on the other hand, he walked around with us and fell asleep during parts of our tour, and then on the way back to the hotel he said he was taking us all to the swamp tour. We explained we were not going to that. He got on the phone and was very rude to whoever he told he was pulling over and waiting and someone needed to come get us. We checked with him when we got on the bus, he had our names, so I am not sure where the glitch was. Other than that little mess, the tour itself was amazing of the plantation.

This tour was very informative and the guide made all the difference. Our driver was knowledgeable and the tour started from the moment we were picked up. The on-site guide was excellent as well but I can’t say enough about our driver. He was kind, flexible and when there was a small hiccup with the schedule he kept his cool (even when the dispatcher did not!), and he made sure we were all comfortable and in the loop. I recommend doing this tour early (8 am) so you have time to do other things throughout the day; the travel and tour take about 3 hours.

It is a nice place to visit. Much history!, some good, some not so! One short coming is that we spent the best part of 2 hours out and back, while the actual guided tour was only 45 minutes, leaving us to walk the grounds on our until until the bus left. I do not recommend this particular for these reasons.

The guide was very informative. We only had a guided tour of the main house. I gave the experience 3 stars because the bus company that got us there has a bus with no shocks and we felt every bump in the road, like a rollercoaster. Then the ride was late to the plantation due to traffic. When we got there they said we had 7 minutes to look around and then our guided tour starts. so we didn’t get a chance to tour the grounds all we got was a tour of the main house and then another guide talked 15 more minutes about the 1811 slave revolt. Once that was done the bus company called us and said we were past the time for pick up and we had to go or get left! I complained we didn’t get a chance to see the grounds, but that said if we didn’t get on the bus now we were getting left. I definitely did not get my money’s worth!!!
