Overview

March through November, daily; limited dates in the off-season!

Our tours include more than St. James Court. We see twice as much as other neighborhood walking tours, visiting Ormsby Avenue, Park Avenue cottages, Floral Terrace, the Witches' Tree, and Millionaires Row. Bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and titans of tobacco settled here in the 1800s. Today, impressive Victorian mansions and quirky residents have earned national attention for Old Louisville.

Author David Dominé often guides groups himself. The New York Times recommends his tours as a MUST during a visitor's "36 Hours in Louisville." Learn more in A DARK ROOM IN GLITTER BALL CITY, David's next book—out in October 2021!

Narrated walks depart from the transitional edge of the neighborhood. If you love old houses, this is the tour for you! If you do not like an up-and-coming neighborhood with a diverse racial make up, please stay home. If you can't go 90 minutes without a bathroom, this is not for you!

The houses and gardens in Old Louisville are incredible, but the best part was our guide. Angelique was passionate, extremely informative and prepared, and excited to answer all our questions. Best walking tour we’ve ever experienced.

Angelique was amazing! Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour ran about 30 minutes long and she offered anyone that needed to hop out early could. We appreciated that she didn’t try and rush through the remainder of the tour and enjoyed the extra little 30 minutes in the neighborhood. This is our second time to do the tour and it was still worth it. Can’t wait to catch a ghost tour when our schedules line up!

Interesting and fun walking tour of this amazing neighborhood! If you’ve never been to Louisville, you should visit. And if you do, the tour of the city’s historic district is not to be missed! Our guide Angelique was fun and interesting. The tour is 90+ minutes long, so make sure you visit the restroom before it starts, wear comfy shoes, and take lots of pictures!

I've lived in Louisville most of my life, but I learned tons of intriguing history and saw fantastic architecture and off-the-beaten-path sights on this tour--including a beautiful hidden street I never knew existed(!) This tour is now my go-to experience for giving out-of-town guests the Louisville experience. For that matter, I think I'll take my husband on the ghost tour for date night soon. Also, it's completely outdoors and the group was small, so even though we're covid-cautious, we felt completely comfortable walking unmasked. Five stars.

Definitely the best time to come I have found is during the winter. These houses are just lit up beyond belief. Angelique really took her time to answer any questions but also Made sure to keep the group moving along to keep us warm on the chilly night. Ghost or no ghost this is the tour to go on -it's not spooky at all- until she whips out photos and stories of documented and personal accounts of these haunted mansions These buildings are phenomenal and have so much history behind them. Everything from prohibition, worlds fair, women's suffrage, murders, storms, fires, affairs of the heart and current events as well has made this fishbowl of Old Louisville surely how soap operas got started. Great job folks. I bought Davids book on the area and it's a an easy read as well. Cannot wait to read them all and come back for the architectural day tour when I can walk better. Speaking of which There is some walking but there's also places you can kind of sit down for a little bit. Make sure you go to the restroom before or it'll be a long wait. Also trip advisor might say it's full when it's not so try to call the number on their site if you can't get in. And make sure it's the one that is recommended by the New York Times.

The Witche’s Tree and the story behind it. We loved that all the houses were different. Our lady tour guide, who looked like a dark haired Penelope Garcia, was excellent and shared so much of the local history. She knew the history of many of the homes.
