Though Provincetown tourism is propelled by her face, Anne wears a mask during this outdoor tour and requires the same from attendees. For physical distancing, the tour has been limited to 10 people, but it can be taken privately by obtaining five or more spaces. Please message about this option.
Overview
Get an introduction to Provincetown from one of American history's most infamous. Decidedly NOT a Pilgrim, Anne Hutchinson knows her history well enough to have been banished from Massachusetts 400 years ago and will walk you through the center of town enlivening central sites poignant to Ptown's story. Don't expect a long trek (1 mi), but do expect the "licentiousness and sinful liberty" that got Anne banished long ago. This makes the tour for adults only. Receiving the seal of the Spirit that some have called comedy from Anne takes roughly an hour. Tour runs at least once daily. Remember, Anne's detractors felt she had "rather been a husband than a wife” and hoped to be "extolled and admired and followed after." You can now do just that by finding her 1600s epithet on social (@americanjesabel) for a sampling of this experience.

Having read the details, we knew our tour would be a one of a kind experience. We always seek out walking tours when we travel. We drove out to Provincetown and arrived minutes before the tour started.There is SO much information given - it truly is impressive that the guide keeps all of this locked in memory and has no need for a written reminder. Provincetown was a special day trip for us and this tour was the best way to kick it off.

Dear Anne H. has found a niche of entertainment for visitors to P’Town. We found this historic walk to be both informative and delightful. It’s a leisurely stroll around town with stops “off the beaten path.” It’s an hour well spent- don’t miss it. We’re still smiling.

Anne Hutchinson was the best tour guide in Provincetown in 400 years! History from New England’s firstfeminist! Our guide was hilarious, keeping us all laughing with anticdotes about events from history while on our walking tour.

Having Anne telling the story of some of Provincetown history was great! I took the tour as a way to see what it was about and be able to tell my guests to come here in the summer about it. And was very entertaining and I learned quite a few things I didn’t know. I highly recommend this to anyone who would like to enjoy an hour of interesting commentary about this lovely town sprinkled with a good dose of humor.
