A great experience

The entire staff was personable and attentive. The manta rays were abundant and they lightly brushed our skin many times. It is not an inexpensive outing, but I was surprised that only a couple of us tipped the staff.

We went out on January 3rd, and it is by far my favorite start to a new year in my 62 years! The crew was extremely hospitable and patient, even when I struggled a bit physically. Their knowledge of these amazing and breath taking beings was impressive and added to the phenomenal experience. I would highly recommend this be a must do event for your visit to Kailua Kona!

We did both the Manta Ray Night Snorkel and the Dolphin Watch and Snorkel activities. Both of them went great! On the Dolphin Watch and Snorkel we got to swim with bottlenose dolphins and saw whales and spinner dolphins, some of the dolphins swimming right next to the ship. The crew provided everything for us - scuba gear, flippers, life vest, pool noodles, binoculars, and snacks. During the Manta Night Dive, we got to hang on the a board a few feet off of the boat, which attracted manta rays using a light that attracted their food. The mantas swam right underneath us, and it touched a few of us - it was an amazing experience. The crew was friendly, nice, and helpful, especially our captain, Captain Allen. One of our party was a very inexperienced swimmer, and the crew helped her swim so she could experience it too. One thing to keep in mind is conditions can be rough and some events can be cancelled / rescheduled, so make sure not to book at the end of your trip.

Great mini-excursion (roughly an hour start to finish). Captain and crew were knowledgeable and funny without being overbearing. Equipment was good. Most importantly, we had a very successful trip seeing many mantas up close and personal (and some other interesting plankton feeders as well).

Great captain and crew. 12+ manta rays coming as centimeters close to you is surreal.
Highly recommend this late evening activity

Ummm.... WOW!
Face to face with Mata Rays! What an amazing experience. When we first got in the water, there were no Manta's to be found. But it didn't take long. Then suddenly you see one swimming up toward you from the depths. Just when you think it is going to get you, it turns and glides past you. Inches away, over and over. One of the best nights we have had and one we would do over and over again.

Captain Shelly and the in-water guides (Jake and Jenn) were a fantastic team that made the whole experience that much sweeter! We had AT LEAST a dozen up-close (3-5 inches) encounters with the majestic rays -- a truly unforgettable experience. I don't have a lot of insulation on my body, so cold water hits me pretty hard (wetsuits provided only cover the torso). This was an experience that made it ALL worth it. If you bring a GoPro, one of the guides might volunteer to get you some underwater shots if you'd like.
